PlayStation 4’s E3 presentation gave us some more info about the exciting games coming to the console. All in all, there are more than 400 games releasing on the PS4. That’s a lot of games coming out this year and beyond, so we decided to present 25 of our most anticipated PS4 games, arranged by their release dates.
Spider-Man
Spidey jumps right into action as he squares off with his fiercest rivals, showing off the breadth of the title's gameplay possibilities. Swing around open world environments, get your spidey senses tingling, and smash enemies in these highly interactive environments. Just who his main nemesis is remains a mystery, but at least we know it's got the fast-paced combat and quick witted dialog we hoped for. Coming out exclusively on the PS4 this September 7th.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Lara Croft is back and this time the world is at stake. This third and possibly the final entry of the series takes our favorite survivor to the Ancient Mayan Ruins. Be one step ahead of the evil organization Trinity and stop them from uncovering a magical relic. Things get brutal as Lara continues to challenge herself with violence, humanity, and most importantly, her past. It’s coming out this September 14, 2018.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Ubisoft has slowly carved a new path for the Assassin's Creed series, starting with Baek's field trip in the sandy dunes. But, in this installment, they're all of it to the next level, Greeking it out in 5th century BC. Set at the dawn of the Peloponnesian War, Odyssey opens our eyes to a world under the legendary King Leonidas. With a move towards RPG, there's plenty of choices to make: from characters, branching choices, skills, and weapons--it's gonna be customizable adventure from start to finish. Coming to our homes in October 5th 2018.
Battlefield V
This game is bringing us at the heart of World War 2. It will have the standard single-player campaign that is divided into short stories called War Stories and of course multiplayer modes like Grand Operations and Combined Arms. This game caused a bit of an uproar when it was revealed you can play as a woman soldier. What do you think about that? This game is set to release on October 19 2018
Soulcalibur VI
The sixth installment of Bandai Namco's weapon-based fighting game takes the franchise to new heights. In celebration of their 20th Anniversary, not only are they coming back with their signature roster, they're also adding to the list with today's iconic fighters. That includes the Witcher's white-haired casanova, Geralt of Rivia, who appears as a guest character. Time to stab and slash with the best this October 19th.
Red Dead Redemption 2
The long wait for this Rockstar sequel may finally be over. It's been more than a year since the game was announced, and while it's nearing its release date, there's still not a lot of details about the upcoming title. But, with the almost universal acclaim for their first game, everyone's just waiting for another chance to ride out into sunsets of their western open world. It's set to release on October 26, 2018.
Fallout 76
Bethesda dished out some new details about the next Fallout Game, and as fans have guessed, it’s going to be the earliest game on the Fallout timeline Players can now have a chance to become one of the first survivors to rebuild society. Apparently, not only will this be the most colorful game of the franchise, it will also be the biggest because you will be sharing the world with other Fall Out players. This game is expected to drop on November 14 2018
Just Cause 4
Series Protagonist Rico Rodriguez is officially coming back, and this time, the game is gonna be even more challenging than ever before! Wind will become a major game changer as it will factor in how mobile you can be while in the air. Plus the actual vehicle you’ll be driving will have its own aerodynamics. It’s gonna be a fun Physics mix with that Tornado and other extreme weather we see in the trailer. It’s coming out on December 4 2018
Resident Evil 2
Capcom's remake of their legendary Resident Evil title looks to be walking the tightrope of old school and new. Taking appreciated new features from later titles and combining it with the excellence of their second title, this remake is both familiar and refreshingly horrifying. Sporting remade graphics and renewed perspectives, Leon's labyrinthine adventures will be filled with terrors and puzzles anew. A faithful rendition of 1998 classic, it's set to release on January 25 2019.
Kingdom Hearts III
Square Enix’s crossover RPG adventure is back the third time around. Once again, the characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise are back! It looks like it’s recreating parts of “At World’s End” and all the epic naval battles in it. Of course. POTC isn’t the only Disney franchise in this Kingdom Hearts title. We’ll also have a bit of the Tangled world, the Frozen world, the Monsters Inc. world, and even a bit of Toy Story as the cherry on top! It’s coming out on January 29 2019
Days Gone
Move aside, Ellie, Sony’s latest zombie shooter brings more information to the table. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where flesh eating zombies roam the land, survive the unforgiving land of Oregon and let your character, Deacon St. John, lay waste to these freakers with your awesome bike. The latest trailer showcases the game’s day and night cycle, open world, and survival action. It’s coming out this February 22, 2019.
Metro Exodus
The latest of Deep Silver’s atmospheric first-person shooter coming from the novels of the same name. Return to the irradiated Moscow surface, and be free from the terrors under the Metro as Artyom rebuilds his civilization from scratch. Face mutated threats and rogue survivors. It’s coming this February 22, 2019.
Anthem
Ensuring us of a universe without lootboxes, EA is hoping to pull people back to their side with the release of their exosuit army in Anthem. An answer to Bungie's Destiny 2, Bioware seems to be doing things right with the game's lush graphics that form a fitting backdrop to their MMO action. Hopefully, they won't be sneaking into our pockets again any time soon. It's set to release on February 22nd, 2019.
Devil May Cry V
Say goodbye to the emo Dante from Ninja Theory and welcome back the original dudes from CAPCOM’s critically acclaimed hack and slash adventure. Rumored to be a prequel to Devil May Cry 2, players assume the role of 4’s young hero, Nero, as he traverses the demon-filled streets. Not much details were revealed, but at least we get to see Old Man Dante. It’s coming out this Spring 2019.
Rage 2
When the world has come to an end, leaving you the last of your kind there’s only one thing left to do. Rage. Steal an awesome car, and blow your way up to fight bandits who apparently have a hair stylist obsessed with brightly colored mohawks. The E3 Demo ended with you being ambushed by a mutant who looks like an oversized football player who you can then unleash your full rage on. This totally bonkers game that’s giving all us Mad Max feels is set to come out Spring 2019
Skull & Bones
Ubisoft is taking us to the high seas again in this game. While Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag depicted the end of piracy’s golden age, this game takes us to at the start of it all! The trailer showed us how pirates came to sail under the black flag, how they came into power, and ultimately, how they separated and betrayed each other. We all know how the pirate code is. Every man for himself. Anyway, this game is looking good, and we can’t wait to see it in its entirety sometime in 2019
Jump Force
Luffy, Goku, Light and Naruto all in one fighting game?! Boy, anime fans are shaking in excitement! Nobody at E3 expected this 3D brawler. The setting of this game are on planet Earth, specifically famous landmarks like the New York Times Square. Apparently, the villains from these famous animes are plotting to rule over the humanity. It’s up to our favourite heroes to band together and stop them! It’s set to release sometime in 2019
SEKIRO: Shadows Die Twice
This game was teased at the Game Awards last year, and finally, we get a glimpse of what the gameplay would be like for this game! If you don't know, the developers behind awesome games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne are the people behind this game! This time, they’re exploring a more asian inspired setting as opposed to the gothic medieval aesthetic of Dark Souls. However, we are still expecting the soul crushing difficulty and massive powerful bosses FromSoftware is known for. This game is expected to release sometime in 2019.
Nioh 2
Just one of the many jaw-dropping samurai games this E3, but it's exciting to see what else Team Ninja has in store for us after their impressive debut. Taking pages from the Dark Souls series' challenging combat, Nioh creeped its way the top RPG lists with William Adam's path of vengeance in Ancient Japan. What with the little we saw in their announcement trailer, at least we know there's fiery trouble a-brewing and we’re ready to find out what it is. Unfortunately, there’s no release date yet.
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Over 15 years after the series first began, Michel Ancel is making a return to his awesome sci-fi universe with this upcoming prequel. An action RPG space opera where humans and anthropomorphic animals live as one, Beyond Good and Evil has no shortage of personalities, especially with space pirate Jade on the forefront. Explore the sacred city of Ganesha alone or with a friend in co-op multiplayer! No release date yet.
The Last of Us: Part II
Since the first game was so amazing, Naughty Dog is working with immense pressure to bring out the second title in the series. This time, we will be playing as Ellie who has grown up to be a highly capable and deadly fighter who also happens to have a beautiful female love interest. Just like the first game, in this game, you have to be stealthy as you traverse this cold and dangerous world. The release date of this game is yet to be announced.
Cyberpunk 2077
CD Project’s futuristic game is filled with cyborgs, fast cars, criminals, and violence! The developers are saying that this is their biggest project ever and they are promising that not only is it a huge living city, it will also offer seamless multiplayer features. Oh, and worry not if you’re thinking you’re going to bleed cash because of microtransactions, the developers are saying there will be none of that! It was first announced in 2012, but until now, it still doesn’t have a release date.
Death Stranding
Kojima’s comeback could potentially change the way we see video games forever. This post-apocalyptic game features an incredible cast including The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lea Seydoux and Lisa Wagner. Lead them in a decaying world where shadow entities rule the land and a phenomenon called Death Stranding leaves humanity vulnerable. But hey, we’re as confused as you are too. The release date of this game is yet to be announced.
Ghost of Tsushima
The trailer showed us the ninth day on the Japanese Island of Tsushima after the Mongol have invaded. A man who appears to be the last samurai surveys the area, doing his best to slay the invaders. Us players will be using traditional combat skills and weaponry from the era. There’s no release date yet, but we can’t wait to go full on samurai mode!
The Elder Scrolls VI
Of course we saw this coming, right? Bethesda’s most awaited sequel to Skyrim is finally in development. Too bad we only get to see mountaintops in its 1 minute teaser. There’s really not much new information to cover around here, but it’s one of the most anticipated games Bethesda has to offer. We’ll find out more info about this game as it releases sometime soon!
