A new boss rush title is heading its way to PC and Nintendo Switch soon.

Indie developer GodziPixel will roll out its newest game, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/nimbusfall/">Nimbusfall</a>, this September 13. In a press release, the studio announced that they will release the revenge-fueled boss rush game on PC via Steam and Switch.

Indie game publisher DevilishGames had partnered with GodziPixel for the launch of Nimbusfall.

GodziPixel (Daniel Agulló) is an independent developer and pixel art artist based in Alcoy, Spain. Some of his published projects included the webcomic "Chop Chop" and video games like "What a Show!

Nimbusfall promised a thrilling boss rush experience fueled by vengeance.
"Dive into a new and thrilling boss rush-style video game where revenge is the only motivation," portions of the game's description read.

In the game, players assume the role of the sole survivor of a race annihilated by a celestial entity known only as "The Moon." Driven by a thirst for retribution, they must navigate a series of 25 challenging boss encounters. Each demands strategic combat and mastery of various skills.
Along the way, they must also unravel the truth behind their past and the fate of their species.

Players can also customize the difficulty with four levels. They range from straightforward to intense. Meanwhile, a variety of weapons, each with unique abilities, allows for strategic gameplay.

Nimbusfall has two modes. Players have the choice to play it solo or local co-op for those seeking a multiplayer experience.

The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/upcoming/">">upcoming game</a> will carry a price tag of US $5.99 on both platforms. Players who buy the game on its release day will get a 20 percent discount, DevilishGames said.

Revenge-Fueled Boss Rush Nimbusfall Set for Release

Exciting news for Switch fans of the tactical roguelike deckbuilder <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/wildfrost/">Wildfrost</a>.

The physical edition of the hit 2023 game for Nintendo Switch is coming soon. Publisher Super Rare Games announced that they will roll out the physical copies on September 12.

But there's a catch.

This limited edition of Wildfrost will only have a total of 4,000 copies.
In a press release, Super Rare Games revealed that the physical versions will come in two packages. These are the Standard Editions and the Deluxe Edition.

There will be 3,000 copies of the Standard Edition which will be sold worldwide. Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition will only be available at 1,000 copies. The Deluxe Edition will contain the base game as well as exclusive game merchandise. These included Joy-Con thumb grips and a wooden jangly charm.

Players who can purchase the Deluxe Edition will also receive a Noomlin bookmark, a fridge magnet, a CD soundtrack, postcards, trading cards, a manual, and a sticker.

Wildfrost first came out in 2023 via PC and Switch. The game is set in the fictional town of Snowdwell, where an endless winter reigns. The premise of the game is simple: players take on a quest to end the eternal cold.

To do so, they must build a powerful deck of card companions and elemental items. Not only to combat the encroaching frost but also to banish it once and for all.

Players assemble a team of randomly generated adventurers and engage in turn-based card battles against enemies.

Aside from the combination of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/roguelike/">roguelike</a> and deckbuilding elements, Wildfrost also features a vibrant cartoon art style.

Upon its release, the game received generally positive feedback from critics and gamers. Some critics like UK-based gaming magazine Rock Paper Shotgun, however, pointed out that 'luck sometimes seems to play too much of role.'

"(But it was still) a genuinely fun game, with charming details and rewarding tactical combat," portions of their review stated.

On whatoplay, Wildfrost receiveed a playscore of 8.6 on PC.

Due to its commercial success, the game also expanded to mobile devices. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/post/wildfrost-android-ios-announcement/">The mobile version of Wildfrost released</a> last April 2024.

The Belgian Game Awards recently announced the nominees for their 2024 edition. This includes Larian Studios’ <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/baldurs-gate-iii/">Baldur’s Gate 3</a>, Pipette Inc’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-man-came-around/">The Man Came Around</a> and Thomas Waterzooi’s <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/please-touch-the-artwork-2/">Please, Touch The Artwork 2</a> leading the nominations.

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 garnered 3 nominations: Best Audio, Best Game Design and Best Narrative. This marks yet another year where Baldur’s Gate 3 dominates an Award Show after its BAFTA and The Game Awards sweep last year. 

Indie titles were the main focus of The Belgian Game Awards. Despite Baldur Gate 3’s universal acclaim, it was tied to Pipette Inc’s The Man Came Around. BGA’s 2024 edition also brings an interesting twist to its awards format by using Olympic-style medals as rewards. Which means Gold, Silver or Bronze will add a creative way to show prestige for the competition.

The console editions for the hit roguelike, twin-stick shooter <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/go-mecha-ball/">Go Mecha Ball</a> have a release date. Creators from Whale Peak Games and Super Rare Originals announced they will roll out Go Mecha Ball this September 26th. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

"We're thrilled to bring Go Mecha Ball to a whole new audience on PlayStation and Switch," said Jonas Ek of Super Rare Originals.

Go Mecha Ball was developed by Whale Peak Games and published by Super Rare Originals. It first made its debut on PC last January.

The game combines elements of shoot 'em up, roguelite, and --- pinball. Its core mechanics feature a mix of win-stick shooting and the chaotic bouncing and ricocheting of pinball. Go Mecha Ball throws players into a neon-lit world with procedurally generated arenas and rogue AI enemies. In it, players transform their mechs into balls. They can soar through the air, bounce off bumpers, and launch themselves up ramps to unleash attacks.

Publisher Feral Interactive and developer Creative Assembly announces the mobile release of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/empire-total-war/">Total War: EMPIRE</a>. Coming this fall, EMPIRE brings the 18th century's era of exploration, conquest, and revolution to a new generation of mobile players. 

Despite being a simple port, the game will feature enhanced touch controls, a redesigned user interface, and quality-of-life improvements tailored for mobile gaming.

Total War: EMPIRE is basically the same game as the 2009 original. Players command one of eleven European powers using a variety of tactics. Be it scientific, political, and warfare. 

The Campaign Map spans Europe, India, and the Americas. This challenges players to balance domestic power with a global reach. The game may not be entirely part of the 4X genre, but it incorporated known mechanics from it ever since. Using diplomacy or force, each faction strives to extend its influence, using armies, fleets, and agents to safeguard their interests at home and abroad.

With this mobile release, warfare has never been more portable. Players will lead their forces in tactical real-time battles, whether it is by using explosive artillery and gunpowder, it remains a true Total War experience.

Unforeseen Incidents: Point & Click Mystery Will Launch on iOS and Android Next Week

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/swap-meat/">SWAP/MEAT</a>, an upcoming multiplayer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/shooter/">shooter</a>, will welcome players to experience its high-octane gameplay. Developers from One More Game (OMG) announced that they are gearing up for a new playtest for SWAP/MEAT.

"That's right, Meat Fam. We goin' live again, and want to play with you," developers wrote on Steam. "This update is all about more. More content, more progression, more MEAT," they added.

The playtest event started on Friday, September 6. It will end on September 10 at 12 p.m. Both will follow Pacific Time schedules. The upcoming playtest came just weeks after OMG hosted a successful initial playtest in July.

One More Game's "SWAP/MEAT" Gears Up for Next Playtest

The world of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/astroneer/">Astroneer</a>, the popular <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/indie/">indie</a> space exploration game, just got bigger.

Developers from System Era Softworks revealed the first-ever paid expansion pack for Astroneer. Called 'Glitchwalkers', it will launch later this year.

"Over 7 years and 20 updates after its early access release, Astroneer is growing once again!" System Era announced.

Players on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One can buy the expansion pack. Glitchwalkers promises to take players on a thrilling new adventure across a vast, uncharted world.

The game's signature <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/survival/">survival</a> sandbox gameplay remains the core of Glitchwalkers. But with a significant twist: a whole new planet to explore. Aeoluz, the largest world ever encountered in Astroneer, boasts diverse biomes, both above and below the surface.

The latest content update isn't just about exploring a new frontier, according to devs. It also introduces the game's first true antagonist – Lyn.

A rogue member of the ESS Elysium crew, Lyn has taken to manipulating the Astroneer Training Program's (ATP) code. Players must join forces with Frank, the Elysium's Head of Maintenance, to stop Lyn from dismantling the ATP.

The journey to Aeoluz promises to be a test of both resourcefulness and technical prowess. Players will also encounter a new tech tree and modules. They'll need these advancements not only to navigate Aeoluz's unique environment. But also counter-hack Lyn's manipulations, and ultimately restore the ATP to its proper function.

Alongside the paid Glitchwalkers expansion, System Era Softworks will also release a free companion update for the base game.

This update will introduce new gameplay features. Devs will also roll out quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes.

Since its launch in 2019, Astroneer has garnered over 11 million players. It recently celebrated its fifth anniversary of spacefaring exploration. On whatoplay, it received a playscore of 8.1 for PC, and 7.9 for Xbox.

Astroneer Blasts Off with First Paid Expansion

PM Studios made the announcement on September 3, 2024. Players can find the game at major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and VGP.

The Launch Editions of the physical copies guarantees free stickers and a standee.

Exophobia takes players into chaotic corridors of a crashed human spaceship overrun by alien threats. It is wrapped by a deceptively retro visual art style amidst its modern mechanics. 

It draws inspiration from classic ‘boomer shooters’ such as Quake and DOOM. As a result, it blends classic and modern formula into a on-stop, adrenaline-fueled action.

What sets it apart from other shooters of the genre is its Metroidvania-style exploration. Players battle relentless alien enemies, progressively upgrading their weapons and unlocking powerful abilities to survive the escalating challenges.

And since the game is all about guns and more guns, it delivers intense combat with a wide array of weapons at the player’s disposal. Which is why characters are encouraged to grow stronger, unlocking new upgrades and powerups to tackle the ever-increasing threats.

Exophobia came out in July this year and gained a cult following in the sea of boomer shooters. It stands at ‘Positive’ reviews on Steam from 45 loyal players. Much of its praise was on its distinct art style and fluid gameplay. 

It did have the occasional hiccups. One such issue is having a confusing map. The map made backtracking frustrating according to one Steam reviewer. 

The game is now available on select stores for the price of $34.99
