<p>In a press release, French game developer Sloclap unveiled <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/rematch/">Rematch</a>. An online <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/pc/multiplayer/">multiplayer</a> football game, it will launch next year. The game can be accessed on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.</p>

<p>The announcement was accompanied by a debut trailer showcasing its core gameplay.</p>

<p>Developers from Sloclap promised to deliver a game that 'precisely reflects the beauty of the football,'</p>

<p>“Football is a beautiful game, a precise choreography of bodies in motion,” the developers said in a statement.</p>

<p>“With Rematch, we aim to condense this essence into a cooperative experience where teamwork and strategy come first. Sometimes, a perfect assist is more satisfying than scoring a goal," they added.</p>

<p>In Rematch, players compete in 5v5 football matches. While they control a single team member from a third-person perspective, the game allows them to do role-switching. This means participants can smoothly transition between positions. From being a striker and defender to goalkeeper - depending on the situation.</p>

<p>Sloclap also said Rematch would be an intense, competitive experience. With that, they decided to drop fouls and offsides to keep the action going.
Players can also enhance their experience through character customization. They can use cosmetic options, and take part in seasonal content.</p>

<p>Aside from its core 5v5 mode, Rematch will also have a variety of extra game modes. This included a 'Quickplay' option and seasonal content updates post-launch. According to developers, some future updates will contain new modes and cosmetic options for customizing characters.</p>

<p>French video game publisher Microids announced that <strong>Death on the Nile</strong> will get a video game adaptation.</p>

<p>Microids' subsidiary, Microids Studio Lyon, will lead the production. The game will launch in 2025 on PC and console platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.</p>

<p>With Death on the Nile, the studio promised to deliver the storytelling and gameplay mechanics a step further.</p>

<p>David Chomard, CEO of Microids Studio Lyon, revealed they have raised the 'level difficulty' in the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/upcoming/">upcoming game</a> by placing more complex puzzles. Developers will also introduce greater freedom in progressing through the investigation, he said.</p>

<p>"[We've also] deepened the dynamic between Hercule Poirot and our new detective, Jane Royce," Chomard added.</p>

<p>Like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/agatha-christie-murder-on-the-orient-express/">Orient Express</a>, Microids revealed that Death on the Nile will also be a 'modern reimagination.'</p>

<p>Death on the Nile begins with what appears to be a peaceful cruise along the Nile River. Only to erupt into chaos when a murder disrupts the journey.</p>

<p>Hercule Poirot, Christie’s beloved Belgian detective, is onboard to investigate. Meanwhile, Jane Royce, a private detective, pursues a separate case that takes her across cities such as London, Majorca, and New York. Then her path converges with Poirot’s in Egypt at the ancient site of Abu Simbel.</p>

<p>The video game adaptation will introduce gameplay innovations like dual protagonists. This meant players could play both as Poirot and Royce. As Poirot or Royce, they can explore various places, from the Nile River to the cities of London and Cairo.</p>

<p>Death on the Nile will also have an extended storyline where a brand-new investigation awaits players after the book's events. As well as new features like Mindmap and Confrontation Systems.</p>

<p>Players assume the role of Igor, a physicist and former employee of the Chornobyl Power Plant, who returns to Pripyat 30 years after the catastrophic nuclear disaster to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his fiancee. The journey through this irradiated landscape is rife with danger, from hostile military forces and mutated creatures to the unforgiving environment itself.</p>

<p>Unlike the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles, Chernobylite introduces base-building and crafting mechanics, allowing players to construct and customize their home base to craft weapons, gadgets, and traps that aid in their survival. The game also includes resource and team management, enabling players to recruit companions with unique skills, assign them to critical missions, and maintain morale through strategic decisions.</p>

<p>The game’s non-linear storytelling ensures that every decision carries weight, shaping the course of Igor’s journey and offering a distinct experience with each playthrough. Whether prioritizing resources, navigating complex relationships, or deciding when to confront threats directly, players will find themselves immersed in a story where their choices truly matter.</p>

<p>The critically acclaimed Japanese action-adventure <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/okami-hd/">Okami</a> is getting a sequel&mdash;two decades after its release.</p>

<p>Capcom revealed during the recent The Game Awards the development of an untitled Okami sequel.</p>

<p>While Capcom has yet to provide more information about the upcoming game, here's what we know so far.</p>

<p>Hideki Kamiya will return as the game's director.</p>

<p>Former members of the first game's studio, Clover Studio, will also rejoin the development team.</p>

<p>Reports stated that production of the Okami sequel will be led by a new studio called Clovers. Moreover, two more studios have been tapped to provide additional support. These are M-Two, the studio that worked on the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Resident%20Evil%20Remake">Resident Evil remakes</a>, and Machine Head Works.</p>

<p>Originally released in 2006, Okami™ is an action-adventure game. The game is inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. In it, players take on the role of Amaterasu, a wolf incarnation of the sun goddess, as they embark on a quest to restore life to a world plagued by darkness.</p>

<p>Okami gained critical success for its stunning Sumi-e art style and innovative gameplay. But the game struggled commercially. This was due to multiple reasons, including a crowded release window and limited marketing efforts.</p>

<p>Porting the game on PlayStation 2 also proved to be wrong timing. Its sales potential had been overshadowed by the release of PlayStation 3.</p>

<p>In the meantime, Capcom has also revealed more surprises in celebration of the upcoming Okami sequel.</p>

<p>They launched a special bundle pairing the beloved Okami™ HD with <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/kunitsu-gami-path-of-the-goddess/">Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.</a> On top of that, Capcom has rolled out a free title update for the game.</p>

<p>The update introduced speedrun missions for select boss battles. In turn, offering players the opportunity to earn Mazo Talismans upon completion.
Detailed progress tracking has also been added for New Game+ mode, providing players with greater insight into their in-game achievements. Additionally, new display options and camera configurations are now available. As well as fixes for several known issues.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the Okami + Kunitsu-Gami Bundle is now available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Versions for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 will come out in the coming days.</p>

<p>The bundle is also being offered at a discounted price for a limited time.
 Kunitsu became a nominee for Best Sim/Strategy Game at this year's The Game Awards.</p>

Capcom Announces Okami Sequel

<p>Looks like FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment have one more Elden Ring surprise for players with this new addition to Hidetaka Miyazaki’s renowned fantasy universe.</p> 

<p>Announced during last night’s The Game Awards, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/elden-ring-nightreign/">Elden Ring: Nightreign</a> is a standalone <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/multiplayer/">multiplayer</a> co-op action survival game set to launch in <strong>2025</strong>.</p>

<p>This new title offers a unique twist on the beloved <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Elden%20Ring">Elden Ring franchise</a>, challenging players to join forces in squads of up to three to battle powerful foes, survive a dynamic world, and ultimately confront the formidable Nightlord.</p>

<p>Nightreign immerses players in Limveld, a perilous and ever-changing map that demands both strategy and adaptability. Fans can expect a <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/roguelike/">roguelike</a> twist to the classic <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/souls-like/">Soulslike</a> formula.</p> 

<p>Limveld’s landscapes, enemies, and rewards shift with each playthrough, ensuring no two journeys are alike. Exploring more dangerous areas offers greater risks but yields more powerful weapons and rewards. Even in defeat, players earn relics to enhance their characters, allowing for deeper customization and improved strategies in future runs.</p>

<p>It’s important to note that this is a standalone entry, not an expansion for the base highly-rated <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/elden-ring/">Elden Ring</a> game. It received its highest playscore on PS5 with 9.5. That makes it one of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/">best PS5 games of all time</a>.</p>  

<p>Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin are not involved in its story, as the narrative unfolds in a mysterious parallel world. It somehow shares <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/destiny-rising/">Destiny Rising</a>’s concept, creating a new world without disrupting the canon story.</p>

<p>Players can choose from eight unique Nightfarers, each equipped with distinct abilities and ultimate powers, to navigate the dangers of the Night’s Tide, a relentless force that reshapes the environment and escalates challenges as darkness falls.</p> 

<p>Survivors must endure a three-day gauntlet cycle, with each phase ending in increasingly powerful boss encounters. On the third night, players will face the enigmatic Nightlord in an epic showdown.</p>

<p>While Nightreign is designed with co-op in mind, solo players can take on the challenge for bigger rewards and the ultimate bragging rights. However, teamwork is encouraged to enhance the overall experience.</p>

<p>A seamless online multiplayer was a highly demanded feature from the original Elden Ring. Now, the game marks a significant evolution of the series’ established Soulslike formula, combining FromSoftware’s signature action <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/rpg/">RPG</a> mechanics with session-based gameplay.</p>  

<p>Players will discover Sites of Grace to level up their characters and gain lasting stat bonuses, furthering their progress toward defeating the Nightlord and uncovering the lore of the Nightfarers.</p>

<p>Elden Ring: Nightreign will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam sometime next year.</p>
