<p>In a press release, French game developer Sloclap unveiled <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/rematch/">Rematch</a>. An online <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/pc/multiplayer/">multiplayer</a> football game, it will launch next year. The game can be accessed on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.</p>

<p>The announcement was accompanied by a debut trailer showcasing its core gameplay.</p>

<p>Developers from Sloclap promised to deliver a game that 'precisely reflects the beauty of the football,'</p>

<p>“Football is a beautiful game, a precise choreography of bodies in motion,” the developers said in a statement.</p>

<p>“With Rematch, we aim to condense this essence into a cooperative experience where teamwork and strategy come first. Sometimes, a perfect assist is more satisfying than scoring a goal," they added.</p>

<p>In Rematch, players compete in 5v5 football matches. While they control a single team member from a third-person perspective, the game allows them to do role-switching. This means participants can smoothly transition between positions. From being a striker and defender to goalkeeper - depending on the situation.</p>

<p>Sloclap also said Rematch would be an intense, competitive experience. With that, they decided to drop fouls and offsides to keep the action going.
Players can also enhance their experience through character customization. They can use cosmetic options, and take part in seasonal content.</p>

<p>Aside from its core 5v5 mode, Rematch will also have a variety of extra game modes. This included a 'Quickplay' option and seasonal content updates post-launch. According to developers, some future updates will contain new modes and cosmetic options for customizing characters.</p>

<p>Publishers Grove Street Games, Snail Games, and Studio Wildcard confirmed the release of <strong>ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition.</strong> Beginning on <strong>December 18</strong>, players and fans can experience the upgraded edition of ARK on iOS and Android.</p>

<p>French video game publisher Microids announced that <strong>Death on the Nile</strong> will get a video game adaptation.</p>

<p>Microids' subsidiary, Microids Studio Lyon, will lead the production. The game will launch in 2025 on PC and console platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.</p>

<p>With Death on the Nile, the studio promised to deliver the storytelling and gameplay mechanics a step further.</p>

<p>Death on the Nile begins with what appears to be a peaceful cruise along the Nile River. Only to erupt into chaos when a murder disrupts the journey.</p>

<p>Hercule Poirot, Christie’s beloved Belgian detective, is onboard to investigate. Meanwhile, Jane Royce, a private detective, pursues a separate case that takes her across cities such as London, Majorca, and New York. Then her path converges with Poirot’s in Egypt at the ancient site of Abu Simbel.</p>

<p>The video game adaptation will introduce gameplay innovations like dual protagonists. This meant players could play both as Poirot and Royce. As Poirot or Royce, they can explore various places, from the Nile River to the cities of London and Cairo.</p>

<p>Death on the Nile will also have an extended storyline where a brand-new investigation awaits players after the book's events. As well as new features like Mindmap and Confrontation Systems.</p>

<p>Capcom revealed during the recent The Game Awards the development of an untitled Okami sequel.</p>

<p>Reports stated that production of the Okami sequel will be led by a new studio called Clovers. Moreover, two more studios have been tapped to provide additional support. <p>Originally released in 2006, Okami™ is an action-adventure game. The game is inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. In it, players take on the role of Amaterasu, a wolf incarnation of the sun goddess, as they embark on a quest to restore life to a world plagued by darkness.</p>

<p>Okami gained critical success for its stunning Sumi-e art style and innovative gameplay. But the game struggled commercially. This was due to multiple reasons, including a crowded release window and limited marketing efforts.</p>

<p>Porting the game on PlayStation 2 also proved to be wrong timing. Its sales potential had been overshadowed by the release of PlayStation 3.</p>

<p>In the meantime, Capcom has also revealed more surprises in celebration of the upcoming Okami sequel.</p>

<p>They launched a special bundle pairing the beloved Okami™ HD with <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/kunitsu-gami-path-of-the-goddess/">Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.</a> On top of that, Capcom has rolled out a free title update for the game.</p>

<p>The update introduced speedrun missions for select boss battles. In turn, offering players the opportunity to earn Mazo Talismans upon completion.
Detailed progress tracking has also been added for New Game+ mode, providing players with greater insight into their in-game achievements. Additionally, new display options and camera configurations are now available. As well as fixes for several known issues.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the Okami + Kunitsu-Gami Bundle is now available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Versions for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 will come out in the coming days.</p>

<p>After months of teasing fans, CD PROJEKT RED has finally confirmed the production of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-witcher-4/">The Witcher IV</a>.</p>

<p>The Polish video game developer has unveiled the latest chapter of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Witcher">the Witcher franchise</a> during The Game Awards 2024 in Los Angeles. Fans were treated to an exclusive six-minute cinematic trailer about the upcoming game.</p>

<p>No launch date or release window was announced during The Game Awards last December 10th. But the showcase signaled the start of full production for the upcoming game.</p>

<p>Set in a remote village haunted for generations by a monstrous creature demanding ritual sacrifices, the cinematic highlights Ciri’s unique abilities. This included her witcher chain and advanced magical powers.</p>

<p>The narrative also explores moral dilemmas. The trailer showed Ciri confronting challenges that test not only her combat skills but also her humanity.</p>

<p>“It feels so good to finally share this vision. Ciri’s journey allows us to explore what it truly means to become a witcher, and this trailer gives a taste of just how dark and grounded that world can be.”</p>

<p>The cinematic also captured the essence of The Witcher IV, showcasing Ciri as an outsider intervening in a grim tradition.</p>

<p>In the trailer, she challenges the villagers’ prejudices while attempting to protect them. A pivotal moment also unfolded as she tried to save a young girl marked for sacrifice.</p>

<p>Before The Witcher IV reveal, fans have long speculated about Ciri's potential as a lead character.</p>

<p>Kalemba emphasized the fresh perspective her story brings while staying true to the franchise’s roots.</p>

<p>Creators from Something We Made unveiled on December 10 its partnership with publisher popagenda for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/toem-2/">TOEM 2</a>. The Swedish studio made the announcement during the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/post/wholesomesnack-2024/">2024 Wholesome Snack showcase</a>.</p>

<p>“It’s exciting, and honestly a bit scary, returning to something so dear to our and others’ hearts,” said Niklas Mikkelsen, co-founder of Something We Made.</p>

<p>They praised TOEM for its charming hand-drawn art, relaxing gameplay, and creative premise. Players explored a monochromatic world through the lens of a camera. At the same time, solve puzzles and interact with characters in their quest for discovery.</p>

<p>TOEM also earned numerous accolades, including the BAFTA for Game Design in 2022.</p>

<p>Building on the success of its predecessor, players will once again step into the shoes of Tanjiro Kamado and other beloved characters. The upcoming sequel will feature story arcs from the animes's Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc.</p>

<p>Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will still be an arena fighter with free exploration between battles. This is in contrast to the series' boardgame counterpart, <a href="Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board!">Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board!</a></p>

<p>In the meantime, SEGA has also revealed some of the new features for the upcoming game. These included a new Story Mode. This will allow players to relive pivotal moments.</p>

<p>Developers have also 'significantly enhanced' its VS mode, which has a roster of over 40 characters. Like fan-favorites like Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji.</p>

<p>Returning characters from the original Hinokami Chronicles will also included in the sequel, SEGA confirmed. As well as those introduced in post-launch updates and DLCs.</p>

<p>The game’s base roster, on the other hand, will feature all nine Hashira, and the elite warriors of the Demon Slayer Corps.</p>

<p>Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles first came out in 2021. The game eventually became both a commercial and critical success.
It garnered praise for its storytelling, faithful adaptation, and stunning graphics. The Hinokami Chronicles has also sold over four million units worldwide.</p>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/astro-bot/">Astro Bot</a>, the PlayStation 5-exclusive platformer, took home the biggest prize during the recently concluded Titanium Awards 2024.</p>

<p>The jury praised Astro Bot for its innovative level design. In particular, the developers' ability to seamlessly integrate creative gameplay with homages to the PlayStation universe.</p>

<p>The platformer has also been a fan favorite since its release this year. The game gained popularity for blending nostalgia with cutting-edge mechanics. Whatoplay gave it a playscore of 9.6 and its high in the rankings of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/">the best PS5 games of all time</a>.</p> 

<p>Aside from Astro Bot, other big winners during this year's iteration of the Titanium Awards included standout titles. Like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-echoes-of-wisdom/">The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/metaphor-refantazio/">Metaphor: ReFantazio</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown/">Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/senuas-saga-hellblade-ii/">Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II</a>.</p>

<p>The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the newest installment in Nintendo's iconic <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Legend%20of%20Zelda">Legend of Zelda franchise</a>, earned the Best Game Design award. The award-giving body recognized the game for its intricate puzzles and expansive world-building.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Metaphor: ReFantazio, a JRPG from the creators of Persona, got the Best Narrative Design for its compelling storytelling.</p>

<p>Best Art Direction went to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game was lauded for its visual style that reimagined the classic series for a modern audience. In the sound category, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II claimed Best Sound Direction for its 'immersive audio design and haunting soundtrack.'</p>

<p>Nomada Studio, known for its critically acclaimed <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/gris/">Gris</a>, took home the Best Spanish Indie Game award for its latest title, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/neva/">Neva</a>. The studio joined an array of winners celebrated for their contributions to the gaming industry over the past year.</p>

<p>The Titanium Awards annually recognizes excellence across the gaming industry.</p>

<p>In addition, this year's Titanium Awards also highlighted winners of the BIG Indie Contest, now in its third year. The competition, boasting a €10,000 prize pool, celebrated indie developers in three categories.</p>

<p>The Most Innovative Game was awarded to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/reus-2/">Reus 2</a> by Abbey Games. The sequel to the 2013 indie hit expands on the original's concept. In addition to the prize money, Reus 2 was showcased on stage.</p>

<p>The Best Basque Game went to Abyssal by Pina Studios. This locally developed title stood out for its 'creative approach and cultural roots.'</p>

<p>The BIG Conference, formerly the Fun&Serious Game Festival, has evolved since its inception in 2011.</p>

<p>Held in Bilbao, Spain, the event now focuses exclusively on industry professionals while maintaining its mission to celebrate video games as both an art form and a cultural phenomenon.</p>

Astro Bot is Game of the Year at 2024 Titanium Awards

<p>Gear up, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/citizen-sleeper/">Citizen Sleeper</a> fans. The much-awaited sequel of the popular story-driven <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/rpg/">RPG</a> just got a release date.</p>

<p>Indie publisher Fellow Traveller and developer Jump Over the Age announced that <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/citizen-sleeper-2-starward-vector/">Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector</a> will launch next year. The game will land on PC and consoles this <strong>January 31, 2025</strong>. Additionally, the game will serve as a day-one addition to <a href="https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass">Xbox Game Pass</a> upon launch.</p>

<p>"We’re thrilled to invite players back to the Starward Belt with the Hexport demo,” said Gareth Damian Martin, founder of Jump Over the Age.</p>

<p>“This sequel represents everything we loved about Citizen Sleeper—enhanced and expanded. We can’t wait for players to experience the new depths of its narrative and mechanics," he added.</p>

<p>In Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, players reprise the role of an escaped Sleeper. But this time, they will navigate the lawless Starward Belt. Developers promised deeper dice-driven mechanics for the sequel. In it, players are tasked with finding a crew, managing a ship, and taking on risky contracts. The upcoming game also blends survival and exploration.</p>

<p>Gareth Damian Martin, the founder of Jump Over the Age, still leads the development of Citizen Sleeper 2. Also reuniting for this sequel are artist Guillaume Singelin and composer Amos Roddy.</p>

<p>Critics and players praised its emotional depth, richly crafted characters, and unique dice-driven system. Whatoplay gave it a playscore of 8.7 for PC, 8.9 for PS5, and 8.6 for Xbox consoles.</p>

<p>The game’s achievements include winning the <a href="https://gdconf.com/gdca">GDCA Award for Best Narrative</a>. It also received nominations for multiple BAFTA awards.</p>
