Steam Next Fest has become a cornerstone event for both developers and players alike, offering a sneak peek into the future of gaming. In this month's edition, there are hundreds of demos available. Japanese video game publisher Aksys Games announced the release of the physical edition of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/ed-0-zombie-uprising/">Ed-0: Zombie Uprising</a> for PS5.

Beginning October 10th, interested gamers and fans in North America can get their hands on physical copies of the action-packed <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/roguelike/">roguelike</a> title. They can buy the game on <a href="https://store.aksysgames.com/">Aksys Store</a> or <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Ed-0-Zombie-Uprising-Multi-Language/dp/B0C42Z673V">Amazon</a> at $29.99.

Ed-0: Zombie Uprising first came out in 2023 and become of many <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/zombie/">zombie games on the PS5</a>. It was created by Japanese developer Lancarse. The game is set in the year 1854, in a fictionalized Edo-era of Japan. And it takes on a new twist on how Western powers forced Japan out of its isolation.

It tells the story of a mysterious Black Ship arriving on the shores of Japan. But the new arrival brought not technological advancements or trade, but a terrifying new horror: a zombie outbreak.

As the once-isolated nation falls prey to the relentless hordes, a glimmer of hope emerges in the form of the 'Zom-beings.' This group of warriors has been imbued with the mysterious ability to resist the zombification process.

Players take on the role of these Zom-beings, tasked with reclaiming Edo and restoring Japan to its former glory. They can choose to play either as a Samurai, a Sumo Wrestler, or a Ninja. Each character has its own unique combat style.

Since its release, Ed-0: Zombie Uprising received mixed reviews from critics and gamers alike. They commended its creators for a compelling narrative. However, they also criticized its 'bland, difficult and imbalanced gameplay.'

"Whether Ed-0: Zombie Uprising is right for someone will largely depend on their threshold for jank and clumsy design," Leo Faierman wrote for Screen Rant. Faierman gave the game a score 8.0 for PC.

Ed-0: Zombie Uprising Slashes Onto PlayStation 5

The physical edition of one of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/best/adventure/">best PS4 adventure games</a><a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/silt/">SILT</a> has been announced for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. This is in collaboration between Fireshine Games, Spiral Circus Games, and Pix’n Love.

The Standard Edition, or the First Edition, costs €34.90 on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation 5 version costs a bit higher at €39.90. 

Fans of the game will also have the opportunity to purchase the game’s special Collector’s Edition. This is available exclusively on the Pix’n Love's website for the price of €79.90. 

It includes the physical game, three lithographs, a numbered certificate, the game's original soundtrack in CD format, and a 164-page artbook. The artbook promises to reveal behind-the-scenes details of the game's creative process, featuring previously unseen illustrations by SILT’s artist, Mr Mead. 

Developed by the UK-based Spiral Circus Games, SILT offers a unique gaming experience set in the mysterious depths of the ocean. This is not the kind of game for players with thalassophobia.

Players take on the role of a diver tasked with uncovering the hidden secrets in the abyss. One of SILT’s unique gameplay mechanics is the ability to possess other creatures. The player can control a variety of nearby creatures to solve intricate puzzles and navigate the darkness.

Underwater Horror Game ‘SILT’ to Get Physical Release in 2025

Fans of cozy organizational puzzles can now enjoy <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/a-little-to-the-left/">A Little to the Left</a> on iOS devices, with an Android version expected later this year. 

The popular indie organizing game is developed by Max Inferno and published by Secret Mode. It challenges players to sort and organize household items across a series of aesthetically pleasing puzzles.

This mobile release brings over 100 unique puzzles to the palm of players' hands. It also comes with a Daily Tidy feature, which offers a new puzzle each day, adding new replayability to its mobile portability. 

The game has been optimized for smaller screens with the addition of pinch-zoom and panning functionalities. This ensures a smooth organizing experience amidst its virtual clutter. Additionally, players who prefer to be guided can check out its enhanced hint system as well.

Ukrainian developer GSC Game World announced the highly anticipated release date for the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/stalker-legends-of-the-zone-trilogy/">S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy</a> on Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo version of the hit <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/first-person-shooter/">first-person shooter</a> (FPS) title was initially planned for a November release. But GSC decided to roll it out this October 31 -- a week earlier.

"Originally planned for November, Stalkers can now enter the Zone a week earlier, on October 31, 2024," GSC wrote in a press release.

The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=S.T.A.L.K.E.R.">S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series</a> is a cult classic renowned for its unique blend of first-person shooter mechanics, survival <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/horror/">horror</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/best/RPG/">RPG</a> elements. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world surrounding the Chernobyl disaster site.

Red Dead Redemption Remaster Arrives on PC this Month

Upcoming indie game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/great-god-grove/">Great God Grove</a> just got a release date. Creators from LimboLane and Fellow Traveller have announced that Great God Grove will arrive on November 15.

The game will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Great God Grove will also be showcased during Steam Next Fest which will run from October 14 to 21.

The game follows a mail-carrier tasked with saving the world from an impending apocalypse. Every once in a while, the gods come together to postpone the apocalypse. But one day, the god of communication started a bunch of fights before going awol.

"With the sky splitting and the gods in disarray, who’s gonna join the Bizzyboys to help SAVE DA WORLD FROM A-POCKY-LIPS???" the game's description reads.

Players will take the role of the gods' new messenger. They will have the ability to absorb speech bubbles and fire them at others.

In the game, players will encounter a colorful cast of characters. Developers said the game will have at least 60 characters. This will include bizarre gods and quirky individuals.

Great God Grove also features a semi-choice system. This means that players' decisions could influence the characters' emotions and actions.

"Listen to their woes and wonders, then deliver key messages to solve their problems—or just to see how they’ll react!" developers added.

The game also has a vibrant world to explore. In Great God Grove, players can expect a combination of third and first-person gameplay.

LimboLane, the creative duo behind Great God Grove, is known for its quirky and surreal games. Their previous title, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/smile-for-me/">Smile For Me</a>, was released in 2019 and received positive reviews.

Netmarble has officially opened global pre-registration for its highly anticipated medieval squad-based RPG, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/king-arthur-legends-rise/">King Arthur: Legends Rise</a>.

Developed by Kabam, the game introduces players to a dark reimagining of Arthurian legends, where they will wield Excalibur and battle to restore Camelot to its former glory.

Set in a stunning world of medieval Britain, King Arthur: Legends Rise offers players an immersive experience with a blend of turn-based PvE and PvP combat. This includes a variety of activities such as raids, rogue-lite modes, an arena, and a handful of story campaigns to get to know these heroes.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream has received a new launch trailer. On October 4, Japanese game publisher Bandai Namco released the latest video for the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/upcoming/">upcoming game</a>. The trailer offered a glimpse into the upcoming game's original story. As well as its immersive <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/best/co-op/">co-op</a> gameplay.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream throws players headfirst into the series' online multiplayer experience. 

The game features an original story about Galaxia. It is a newly installed system in Alfheim Online. But then a malfunction causes all words and timelines to merge.

In turn, Kirito and his friends find themselves lost in this unfamiliar territory. They must navigate dangers and forge unexpected alliances to survive.

In Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, up to 20 players can team up to embark on epic quests. There, they expect to tackle boss raids or explore expansive environments.

The game will allow players to choose their favorite heroes and even some villains.

The trailer also confirmed that the game contains at least 21 iconic characters from the Sword Art Online universe. These included fan favorites like Asuna, Kirito, and Leafa.

Beyond character selection, players delve deeper into customization. Players can choose to select six distinct classes. These are the Fighter, Tank, Rogue, Ranger, Mage, and Support. Each class offers unique combat styles and advantages on the battlefield.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream also boasts wide customization options. In it, they can personalize their experience through a character enhancement system. They can fine-tune their chosen character's strengths. By collecting and upgrading an array of weapons and accessories. This way, they can ensure their team's effectiveness during battles.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream is the latest in a long-list of videogames from the franchise, especially on PlayStation. It began with Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment on the PlayStation Portable, followed by <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/sword-art-online-hollow-fragment/">Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment</a> on the PS Vita. Since then, it entered the mobile sphere, hitting a peak with <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/sword-art-online-memory-defrag/">SWORD ART ONLINE: Memory Defrag</a> which received playscores of 8.1 and 8.2 on Android and iOS respectively.

Now, Sword Art Online returns to consoles with Fractured Daydream.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream Gets Launch Trailer

As part of its ongoing 10-Year Anniversary festivities, Kabam is rolling out a series of spooky updates for their long-running mobile <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/fighting/">fighting</a> game, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/marvel-contest-of-champions/">Marvel Contest of Champions</a>. Among the highlights are two new Champions: Scream, the daughter of Venom, who joins the game on October 17, and Jack O’Lantern, a master assassin, arriving on October 31.

Players can also gear up for their Anniversary Battlegrounds Season 22, taking place from October 2 to 30. This season also offers a breadth of new content for more than 280 Champions, including fan favorites like Doctor Strange, Carnage, and Ghost Rider. 

The Halloween-themed Event Quest called “House of Horrors” brings Summoners alongside Jessica Jones to investigate a symbiote-related mystery in a haunted carnival. 

Throughout this event, players can expect appearances from Scream and Jack O’ Lantern, providing their own kind of scare. Additionally, Jack’s Bounty-full Hunt side quest puts players in the middle of Gladiatorial Games hosted by Jack O’Lantern himself, where Champions fight for survival.

The 10-Year Anniversary celebration includes 10 Glorious Reveals, starting with reworks for beloved Champions Medusa and Purgatory, an all-new Alliance Super Season, and Bounty Missions where players track down bosses from past Event Quests.

In November, Kabam will also release a 60 FPS update, improving performance for all devices. Plus, a Venom Reskin event will honor the upcoming Venom: Last Dance movie, offering special rewards for players logging in from October 21 to November 15.

Marvel Contest Of Champions was released back in December 2014 and it is still getting players to this day. This is all thanks to its mobile portability. It is available on iOS and Android devices. It has playscore of 7.7 on Android, and it's an <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/best/">all-time best on the iOS</a> with a playscore of 8.5

Fans attending New York Comic Con are in for a treat as Kabam will be present at the Marvel booth, offering a hands-on demo of the game and exclusive 10-Year Anniversary announcements.
