<p>Very few fighting games manage to make their mark on pop culture, but <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/snk-playmore/">SNK</a> had managed to land a fan-favorite with their Samurai Shodown series. A lot of people have been waiting for the 2019 reboot to come to PC for a while now, and Epic Games has just dropped a new teaser revealing that <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/samurai-shodown/">Samurai Shodown</a> is coming to PC in June.</p>

<p>It’s worth noting that this announcement follows the official reveal for Samurai Shodown Neo Geo Collection. With players being able to try their hand at the classic games, it’s pretty great that PC gamers can now get in on the hype.</p>

<p>Pre-orders for Samurai Shodown are actually available on the Epic Games Store right now, and pre-ordering actually gets you a 10% discount on the game.</p>

<p>While several fighting titles like Tekken and Mortal Kombat have managed to evolve in their style and gameplay, it’s great to see some classic fighting games still coming out today.</p>

Samurai Shodown is Coming to the Epic Games Store this June

<p>After the Infamous games, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/sucker-punch-productions/">Sucker Punch</a> is set to bring something entirely new to players with <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/ghost-of-tsushima/">Ghost of Tsushima</a>. With a games set in medieval Japan being synonymous with ‘difficult’, the devs tease a challenging that is sure to keep everyone on the edge of their toes.</p>

<p>Talking to <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/ghost-of-tsushima-devs-discuss-challenging-combat-incredibly-difficult-samurai-fights">IGN Nordic</a>, creative director Nate Fox explains:</p>

"We are trying to make a grounded game in that sense, so a couple blows from the enemy will kill you. The game is very challenging. We have three words to describe the combat: Mud, blood and steel. We absolutely honor the lethality of the sword. We watched samurai movies and people go down with one or two strikes, and that is embedded inside of the combat.”

<p>Art director Jason Connell also teases that players will have to be more creative when it comes to their playstyle. While players have gotten used to taking out horde after horde of goons in other games, Ghost of Tsushima force you to be smart about taking on a handful of enemy samurai when you run into them.</p>

<p>Admittedly it would be tough for Tsushima to come out a month after the release of the highly anticipated <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-last-of-us-2/">The Last of Us Part II</a>, but I’m sure there are some fans who prefer hacking their way through feudal Japan rather than braving the zombie apocalypse.</p>

Ghost of Tsushima: Expect Combat to be Full of ‘Mud, Blood, and Steel’

This year, it's marking a new milestone with an upcoming launch on Google Stadia.</p>

<p>Now, players on Google's game streaming platform will be able to put themselves in the shoes of Six as she tries to escape a ship of evil residents and dangerous traps called The Maw. Players subscribed to Google Stadia's Pro membership will be able to claim the base game for free starting on June 1st. Since its successful debut, Little Nightmares has released a collection of three additional stories called "The Secrets of the Maw". Pro Members will be able to buy this game separately.</p>

<p>Non Stadia Pro members, on the other hand, will only be able to purchase <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/little-nightmares-complete-edition/">Little Nightmares Complete Edition</a>, which includes the base game as well as the additional stories from Secrets of the Maw.</p>

<p>A truly out of this world experience from beyond the cosmos. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/gunfire-games/">Gunfire Games</a>' <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/action/">action</a>-<a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/adventure/">adventure</a> feels like being inside a sci-fi parody. Take command of your very own spaceship, and try to get rid of the hostile aliens you attracted in the unexplored reaches space.</p> 

<p>One of the funniest VR co-ops, it's a fully-featured title with lots of content and replay value, earning a score of 8.1</p>

<h2>22. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/wilsons-heart/">Wilson's Heart</a></h2>

<p>A VR game made, especially for the Oculus Rift. Set in a black and white world, put yourselves in the shoes of Robert Wilson as he discovers his heart replaced by a mysterious device. Released relatively early into the dawn of VR, this game is more than a demo reel of VR capabilities, it's a full game with six to eight hours of engaging puzzles and a playscore of 8.15</p>

<p>Looks like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/stress-level-zero/">Stress Level Zero</a>'s experimentation has paid off. Throughout its campaign, you'll get to use everything from guns to crowbars, and even your own head. All of it creating a delightful romp of satisfying combat and a playscore of 8.18</p>

<p>From <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/survios/">the same studio that brought us Arizona Sunshine</a> comes this gorgeous sci-fi shooter. Take to a robotic future and play as hackers plotting to bring down Eden Corp's sinister robot line. A lot of other  VR games may look better now, but Raw Data still serves quite a dose of polished gameplay, presentation, content, and co-op capabilities.</p> 

<p>It has a playscore of 8.19</p>

<h2>19. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/chronos/">Chronos</a></h2>

<p>Gunfire Games has also made its successful jump to VR with this action <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/rpg/">RPG</a>. Far from their Darksiders series, Chronos revolves around the concept of time, drawing you in with satisfying combat, intriguing puzzles, and breathtaking environments. It's Legends of Zelda with a twist. Add years to your life with every death, gaining new perks at the cost of being grayer, slower, and closer to death.</p> 

<p>A playscore of 8.25</p>

<h2>18. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/pistol-whip/">Pistol Whip</a></h2>

<p>There's not much time to immerse yourself when you have bullets flying at you in every beat. <p>A VR that will take you places, not just anywhere in the universe, but to whole new dimensions too. It's one thing to emulate reality. Creating a surreal and wondrous place to immerse in is a whole another thing entirely and FORM does it with style. It's an hour-long title from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/charm-games/">Charm Games</a> where you get to puzzle over their varying conundrums at your own pace while taking in their hypnotic and almost psychedelic visuals.</p>

Drifting away from their usual fast-paced titles, Lies Beneath plays it slow, letting the creepiness grow on you as you explore their sleepy town of Slumber Alaska.</p> 

<p>A one-two punch of cel-shaded graphics and gruesome images, you'll be confused about whether to appreciate the surroundings or watch out for the next monster. It has a score of 8.37</p>

<p>From the makers of Descent, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/revival-productions/">Revival</a> brought six degrees of freedom to the VR.  It's got everything you need from a classic flying shooter. Take your friends along with you in the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/multiplayer/">multiplayer</a> mode with both public and private matches, and play around with their customization options, as well as their intense survival mode. With 15 levels in their campaign, it's great for both a multiplayer and singleplayer experience.</p>

<h2>14. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-lab/">The Lab</a></h2>

<p>Play as the elite secret agent in this <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/puzzle/">virtual reality puzzler</a> from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/schell-games/">Schell Games</a>. More like an X-men and Sherlock hybrid than your usual James Bond fare, I Expect You to Die anchors on the powers of the mind. <p>Darkly funny and endlessly clever, it has a playscore of 8.45</p>

<p>After being one of the most awesome puzzle games on the mobile, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/fireproof-games/">Fireproof Games</a> took they are tried and tested formula to the VR and it's just as captivating as ever. But, this time, it's all on your hands. Walk around in their renowned environments, gather clues, and leave no virtual stone unturned.</p>

<p>Not quite the kind of VR most of us would expect, but it definitely shows that the platform is for everyone. With a lot of avid PC strategists, these folks can get comfy in <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/hidden-path-entertainment/">Hidden Path Entertainment</a>'s title. With the designer of Age of Empires, rack up the strength of your armies and win the wars in their fun, fantasy battlefields.</p>

<p>Playing with both new environments and a whole different scale, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/innerspace-vr/">Innerspace</a>'s VR adventure challenges you to think in terms of big AND small to solve the riddles that haunt their friendly, french fisherman. Its interactivity is what sells it, letting you play around with all the objects in the lighthouse.</p>

<p>This rhythm game from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/drool/">Drool</a> existed on platforms before its VR version. However, once it did get out, it was clear that it was made for it. A new take on the rhythm game, Thumper's booming bass, and captivating stages is particularly breathtaking when you're in it for yourself.</p> 

<p>We didn't think it could get any more absorbing, but Thumper exceeds expectations. It has a playscore of 8.57</p>

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/robo-recall/">Robo Recall</a></h2>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/epic-games/">EPIC Games</a>’ FREE action-packed VR shooter provides the endless fun of graphically appealing robots in a seamless FPS experience. Once you get in, you'll find a world taken over by rogue robots and your job is to survive. Whether it's by using bare fists or high-powered machines, it'll take reflexes, skills, and awareness to get through each punishing stage.</p>

<p>A taste of the old Norse myths. In SUPERHOT, time moves when you do, making it an incredible experience to feel like you're fully in the world and in control of the action. <p>Another shining example of "you don't need realism to have fun." <p>An early hallmark of VR excellence from <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/ready-at-dawn/">Ready at Dawn</a>. As echo units tasked to deal with repairs and overhauls on a deep space ship, you'll go through a series of anomalies, solving each problem to save the ship and the crew. It's a deeply absorbing tale, with seamless navigation around a gorgeous and eerily quiet outer space.</p> 

<p>It lives up to VR standards two years on and it earns a playscore of 8.87</p>

<h2>1. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/half-life-alyx/">Half-Life: Alyx</a></h2>

<p>Valve has stirred the foundations of the platform with one of the most groundbreaking titles we've seen yet. Building upon the legendary history of their Half-Life series, Alyx is a prequel set between Half-Life 1 and 2, putting us in the shoes of Alyx Vance and into City 17. It's a world that's familiar, but just as terrifying, and this time, a lot more real. Everything we love about Half-Life presented with incredible graphics, believable physics, and intuitive controls.</p>

<p>Following its successful release on the consoles, publisher <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/505-games/">505 Games</a> has decided to expand the horizons of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/typhoon-studios/">Typhoon Studios</a>' sci-fi adventure with the release of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/journey-to-the-savage-planet/">Journey to the Savage Planet</a> on the Nintendo Switch. </p>

<p>For its May 21st release, the game will be made available digitally on the Nintendo Switch eShop for players in the Europe and the Americas. Russia will have to wait till May 28th, while Korea, Hong Kong  and Japan will get their digital release at an unspecified later date.</p>

<p>On the other hand, a physical release will also be available in Europe and Americas on June 25th.</p>

<p>Probably the biggest loot coming to the game are the legendary skins for characters Mercy, Zenyatta, Ashe, Reaper, and Wrecking Ball. You’ll also get a chance to win some Epic skins for heroes Sigma, Widowmaker, and McCree.</p>

<p>The anniversary event is also infamous for dance emotes, and we have some new ones for Sigma and the latest hero Echo. Roadhog also gets this emote called Big Guy which is going to be his second dans emote in the game.</p>

<p>With every anniversary also comes the chance to win rare skins from previous events of the game. If you’re not so keen on spending your credits on the anniversary skins, you can have your pick from cosmetics from past events like Halloween and Winter Wonderland.</p>

<p>I’ll admit, I’m kind of bummed that we don’t have a new game mode introduced with the anniversary, but players are sure to be kept busy with the return of old game modes from past events like Lucio Ball, Mei’s Snowball Offensive, and Junkenstein’s Revenge.</p>

<p>While the Aftermath expansion comes with new characters and a new campaign, there’s actually going to be a free treat for gamers who already own <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/mortal-kombat-11/">Mortal Kombat 11</a>.  Friendships will be making their comeback in the game, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/netherrealm-studios/">NetherRealm Studios</a> has released an official trailer for them.</p>

<p>Friendships will be available for all the core characters and even the DLC ones like Sindel and Nightwolf. We don’t get a peek at Friendships for incoming characters Fujin, Sheeva, and Robocop, but they may also get their own when the expansion comes out.</p>

<p>Friendships won’t be the only free thing coming with the expansion either. Players will get access to the new stage of the game like the Dead Pool the Soul Chamber from Mortal Kombat 3. All players will also get access to stage fatalities, which will be available for stages existing in the game as well.</p>

<p>With the Kombat pack completed and Aftermath coming later this month, a lot of fans are curious when NetherRealm will announce the second Kombat Pack with new characters. We should probably expect a delay because of COVID-19, but hopefully the next batch of incoming characters will finally include Evil Dead’s Ash (Bruce Campbell), who was said to be delayed because of a licensing dispute.</p>

<p>If you already own the game, the Aftermath expansion is going to run for $39.99, but if still don’t own it and want the full package, you can spend $59.99.</p>

<p>Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is set to come out this May 26, but the base game is available now for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/mortal-kombat-11/">PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/mortal-kombat-11/">Xbox One</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/mortal-kombat-11/">Nintendo Switch</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/mortal-kombat-11/">PS4</a>.</p>

<p>Retrograde Arena is self-classified as a party game and is probably best played in a room full of friends. Besides the dazzling visuals, players will be able to cycle through three game modes, King’s Crown, Supersizer, and Last Man Standing. The game also promises more things to come, so this could just be the tip of the iceberg.</p>

<p>Though the game isn’t out yet, RA has managed to nab the Rising Star Award and Best Innovation Awards at the SEA Game Awards last year. Hopefully Freemergency will manage to stick the landing when this comes out.
