8 Upcoming PS5 and Series X|S Games for April 2021

With the PS5 and Series X|S launched last year, they're admittedly short on titles. That being said, the consoles are currently in the process of adding new games to their library.

Here’s a list of games set to release in April. But if you're looking for the complete release catalog, visit our dedicated pages for upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S games.

1. Outriders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

From developers People Can Fly, the same studio behind the Gears of War games, Outriders is an upcoming shooter that’s set in the dark sci-fi world of Enoch. The game allows for 1-3 player co-op and will have you traversing futuristic slums to dangerous forests and mountains.

2. Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS5 and Series X|S

Oddworld was a game franchise that launched back in the 90s, and it’s had several sequels over the years with titles coming out to the PlayStation, Xbox, and even the Game Boy. Now Oddworld is set to come back with Oddworld: Soulstorm. In this platformer, you take control of Abe as he tries to liberate people from the greedy Glukkons. The world is dark and unique, and you get to jump around and solve puzzles as you progress. What’s also interesting is that Abe can now possess NPCs in the game, and you can use that skill to either cause more havoc or do a pacifist run.

3. MLB The Show 21 on PS5 and Series X|S

San Diego Studios has announced this year’s update on The Show for the latest generation of consoles. While we can expect the usual graphical enhancements, it has been touted that this version of the game will allow cross-play. Plus, the game will feature 3D audio, DualSense support, and 60 FPS. What’s more, the game will also come with its own Stadium Creator for the PS5 and X|S. The game comes out on April 16 but if you can get it four days ahead of release, plus some in-game extras, by getting the Digital Deluxe edition.

4. MotoGP 21 on PS5 and Series X|S

Mileston S.r.l. is back with their latest addition to the MotoGP franchise. Just announced last February, MotoGP 21 promises to be one of the most ‘realistic and immersive’ entries to date. Catch this ‘authentic 2-wheels racing experience’ when it releases for the PS5 and the X|S.

5. Judgement on PS5 and Series X|S

The original Judgement had released on the PS4 back in 2019, and now developers Ryu Ga Gotoku are prepared to release the update for the PS5 next month. Though the studio is best known for its more wacky Yakuza series, Judgement promises to delve into the more serious aspects of organized crime. That being said, there’s still a lot of fun kung-fu action that’s sure to keep the adrenaline pumping.

6. Returnal

Another PS5 exclusive to watch out for, Returnal brings together elements of the third-person shooter and the roguelike genre and will have players exploring a dark sci-fi world. Each world is set to change with every death, and that only adds to the mystery of it all.

7. Terminator: Resistance Enhanced on PS5

Terminator: Resistance came out back in 2019, but with the game releasing so close to launch, it would make sense that developers Teyon would try to up the ante for newer consoles. Take part in the Future War against Skynet and save the future of humanity; just make sure not to get terminated.

8. R-Type Final 2

The original R-Type Final was a game that came out back in 2004, and it essentially had players take control of ships as they shot their way through horizontal levels. Almost 15 years later, and players are finally going to get their hands on a sequel, complete with the same elements that made up the original, but with some added flair to be fitting for the next generation of games.
