Blizzard teased a new Japan-based map called Kanezaka last year, and it looks like they’re ready to put it into the game. The Kanezaka Challenge has been launched to welcome the upcoming map.

As per DailyESports, Kanezaka will be the final new map of Overwatch, and it’s going to be a free-for-all map like Pera and Chateau Gillard. With Genji being the one to get most of the great cosmetics throughout the game’s run, it’s also nice to see some more love for his estranged brother Hanzo.
Besides the game, Overwatch is also known for building a story around the characters. Blizzard has also released this new ‘Correspondence’ letter from a Toshiro Yamagami which will give us more in-story context for the new map and updates on the Shimada clan.
You can check out the full letter here.
Blizzard is slowly wrapping up their live service for Overwatch. Though Overwatch 2 has been announced, we haven’t received any significant updates on the game. Hopefully with the pandemic having died down in some areas and already, we will get news on the upcoming sequel.
The Kanezaka Challenge will be available from Jan. 12 to Jan. 25. Overwatch is playable on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
