16. Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn

Banking on the nostalgia of Shaq's old fighting game, the legendary basketball player returns to his 16bit paradise for more Kung Fu action. While it's a competent brawler with smooth controls and chock full of charming pop culture references, A Legend Reborn still feels a little too short for its price point.

Still, a welcome treat for 90s nostalgia, it has a provisional playscore of 6.57.

15. Soccer Slammers

Join in on the World Cup fever with this multiplayer arcade soccer game from Atooi. Gather round up to three your friends and get ready for hours of power shots, tackles, and super sprints in their blocky world. Focused mostly on couch party gaming, the currently does not have online multiplayer. Fast-paced and easy to pick up, it's a great time waster for those post match breaks.

It has a provisional playscore of 6.83

14. IRO HERO

On a console with a lot of pixel games, Artax Game's vertical shooter feels right at home on the Switch. Taking inspiration from the classics, Iro Hero offers some new twists like the inclusion of puzzle elements to take a break from the action.

Getting the basics of a good shooter intact, it has a provisional playscore of 7.06

13. Happy Birthdays

The newest title from Harvest Moon's Yasuhiro Wada, Happy Birthdays welcomes you into your own budding playground. Watch as your creatures evolve from tiny single-celled organisms, and document each step in their growth. Not only is it a charming simulation game, it's also a unique way to learn about various ecosystems.

A fun educational tool, it has a provisional playscore of 7.07

12. Shape of the World

A walking simulator that captures the wonders of getting lost, Shape of the World is a paradise waiting to be discovered. This indie adventure from Hollow Tree Games just might be the answer to the stress of day to day life. Aimed at exploration and relaxation, walk through their colorful landscapes and watch their stunning world take shape.

It has a provisional playscore of 7.31

11. The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker

Nostalgia is hitting us from all sides, from retro remakes to the surprising rise in full motion videogames. This time, D'Avekki Studios invites you to sit on the psychiatrist's chair to investigate the murder of the eponymous Dr. Dekker.

Despite keeping modernity of full HD videos, it still has all the campy goodness of old-timey FMVs. Ask whatever you want with the free text input, watch over 1600 responses, and guess who the randomly picked murderer is this time.

The most extra FMV yet, it has a provisional playscore of 7.33

10. Paladins

Following up their celestial MOBA, Hi Rez Studios made an explosive entrance into the FPS arena with this free to play title. Often treated as the alternative to Blizzard's own smash hit, Overwatch, Paladins still has some charms of its own. Finally breaching Nintendo's hybrid console, take a pick from their colourful cast of champions and bring the battle wherever you go.

It has a provisional playscore of 7.5

9. LEGO The Incredibles

What with the landslide success of the most recent Incredibles film, it's no surprise that people would want to jump into the shoes of the Parr family. Combining the charm of Brad Bird's characters and the signature hilarity of the LEGO series, the blocky of adventures of Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, and Dash are made even better. Become the best crime-fighting family in town, and make sure to pay a visit to the snarky but snazzy Edna Mode.

It has a provisional playscore of 7.5.

8. Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido

Ninja dashing out of its 3DS exclusivity, the Sushi striker arrives on the Switch to serve up their brand of action-packed puzzling. Rebelling against a tyrannical anti-sushi rule, the sushi striker springs into action, devouring conveyor-belt sushi, matching plates, and eliminating enemies with flying ceramics. Compete with friends in local multiplayer or join the intuitive culinary fray online.

It has a provisional playscore of 7.52

7. Mario Tennis Aces

It's always a happy day when Nintendo releases a new Mario game, and this is no different. With this latest installment of the series, Mario and the gang are entering the court with their flashy new tennis outfits. The game comes with the same sparkly, arcade-style finish of their other popular couch party titles.

Fun as it is, some players are disappointed at the game's lack of regular old tennis. It has a playscore of 7.73.

6. Fortnite

With Fortnite's entry into the Switch roster, comes a flurry of new competitors in the manic fight for survival. A close competitor to the trailblazing PUBG, Epic Games' Fortnite found it's own place in the genre with its unique building features. Sway the battle to your side with effective structures, blowdown enemies with sheer precision, or bait them with your killer dance moves.

A fitting mobile experience for Battle Royale fans, it has a playscore of 7.85

5. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle

Arc System Works takes a detour from their usual fighting games to bring together some of today's best franchises into one ultimate competition. This crossover title features a wide array of characters from Persona 4, Under Night In-Birth, RWBY, and of course the BlazBlue series. Other than its Allstar cast, Cross tag battle has been praised for the simplified controls that make it accessible for newbie gamers.

It has a playscore of 7.95

4. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA

This eighth installment of Nihon Falcom's Ys series marks the first adventure for the red-haired swordsman in over eight years. Follow Adol and his friends as they embark on a perilous quest to uncover the mysteries of the island. As their newest title suggests, it introduces a new, blue-haired heroine called Dana who comes with her very own gameplay sections.

Return for more memorable moments and unforgettable characters as it has a provisional playscore of 8.29.

3. Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion

The first paid DLC for Nintendo's team-based third-person shooter, the Octo expansion got a few choice surprises for fans of the series. First, it adds a whole new single-player campaign that lets you play as the amnesiac Agent 8. Help her retrieve her memories in 80 fresh missions, learn more about your favorite inklings, and play as Octolings in multiplayer mode.

A jampacked expansion, it has a provisional playscore of 8.45.

2. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Polarizing as it is in today's atmosphere, MachineGames' Wolfenstein remains steadfast in its mission to give you a satisfying dose of Nazi killing sprees. Set in an alternate timeline where Germans win the war, step inside the shoes of the deadly killer, BJ Blazcowicz and give those Nazis a taste of American patriotism.

Not the most family-friendly titles, but it's a nice addition to the Switch's expanding roster. It has a provisional playscore of 8.53

1. Hollow Knight

One of the most hotly anticipated indie games on the Switch, Team Cherry's Metroidvania platformer exceeded all expectations. Already a massive success on the PC, Hollow Knight's port to the Switch allowed players to bring the bitesized adventures on the go.

The game was praised for its expertly designed stages, smooth controls, fiendish bosses, and lush visuals. The wait was all worth it in the end!
