So, i reviewed splatoon 2 mentioning this. Well a more detailed about this for what i thought is that this is another level of hard compare to the story mode.

You start with an octoling which you are not bad, and find yourself underground. Your goal is to escape the underground. You will have to play your way through multiple of puzzles which are some quite difficult. And eventually fight the last boss.

Each puzzle cost some currency(in game). When you beat the puzzle you earn more, if you lose you need to pay again.

By the end all of this is finish, you could play octoling in the battle royale

As a single player experience it outmatches the standard Octo Canyon mode significantly, and even though it does allow players to acquire exclusive items, it manages to avoid affecting any of the mechanics of online play, so non-purchasers will never be at a disadvantage. If you’re a fan of Splatoon in any capacity and you want more to sink your beak into, Octo Expansion is an unwavering must-have.

80 stages is a lot to get through, but you only need to earn the four thangs by visiting the critical path locations -- a rough estimate for that is around five hours (culminating in a more story-esque gauntlet finish), double if you try to do everything. As cool as the "agent" and underground concept is, a lot of the aesthetic shift feels like a re-skin of sorts.

Octo Expansion is neither, and in fact, I'd argue it's even better than the original game's single-player campaign. Through the 15-or-so hours it'll take you to complete the expansion 100%, you'll be led through a jungle gym full of rails to ride, targets to shoot, hazards to stunt over, and enemies to face down. And when you finally catch your breath after having reached the end, you won't be able to resist diving back in to see if you can finally complete that speedrun challenge with the carbon roller, damn it all.
