The award-winning indie game Sky: Children of the Light will debut on PlayStation 4 this month.
Thatgamecompany confirmed that Sky: Children of the Light will go live on PlayStation beginning this December 6. The Santa Monica-based gaming studio also said the game could support cross-play. This means players can save their progress between mobile and console devices.
PlayStation players can look forward to wandering Sky: Children of the Light's beautiful world, unraveling its history, and forming bonds with other adventurers from around the globe,
they added.
Meanwhile, Thatgamecompany also announced that Norwegian singer AURORA would headline the game's upcoming virtual concert.
Organizers are expecting more than 4,000 players of Sky: Children of the Light to join the occasion on December 8. They said that the event would be "revolutionary." They added it will be "powered by a proprietary game engine."
Thatgamecompany unveiled its plans to expand Sky: Children of the Light to PlayStation last August. Their announcement came a year after they released the game for Nintendo Switch.
Sky: Children of the Light first came out in 2019 for iOS devices. A year later, they welcomed Android players into the Realms. The game received positive reviews and even multiple awards and accolades.
Apple gave Sky: Children of the Light the 2019 iPhone Game of the Year award. Its developers also received the Game Developers Choice Awards 2020 a year later. Google also named it the Play Store's Best Indie Games of 2020.
Since its launch in 2019, Sky: Children of the Light has generated over 160 million downloads.
(And now, we will) welcome millions more players when it launches on PlayStation on December 6,
said developers.
