<p>Sony just wrapped their second PlayStation State of Play for 2024. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-4ZM3jxhdE&t=1471s">35-minute showcase</a> featured 14 games in total, with 2 special announcements from PlayStation Studios. The two games were the 5v5 competitive shooter, <a href="ttps://whatoplay.com/ps5/concord/">Concord</a>, and the new <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/astro-bot/">Astro Bot</a> game.</p>

<p>Pre-orders for Concord's Beta Access will start on June 6.</p>

<p>Another highlight was the announcement for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/path-of-exile-2/">Path of Exile 2</a>for consoles. The upcoming game will include local co-op play, as well as support for cross-play and cross-progression.</p>

<p>This week, players on Xbox can join the game of presidential politics!</p>

<p>Developer Ultimate Games has announced the release of their game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/i-am-your-president/">I Am Your President</a> for Xbox One. The developer has confirmed that the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/upcoming/">upcoming Xbox game</a> will launch on <strong>May 8</strong>.</p>

<p>I Am Your President is a satirical political survival game where players start out as the newly-elected president of the United States. As president, they will have to fight through a number of crises and raise public support in a bid to get a second term.</p>

<p>All of the events that happen in I Am Your President are told in visual novel-like storytelling. Through this, players talk to people, attend conferences, and even run their own social media.</p> 

<p>All the while, the player’s choices will be mapped in a special political compass that tells them whether their policies lean left or right.</p>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/i-am-your-president/">I Am Your President</a> first released on PC via Steam in 2023. The game has received mixed reviews.</p> 

<p>While some praised the game for its improvements in dialog and gameplay, a few players were disappointed in the lack of policy choices in the game.</p>

I Am Your President Coming Soon to Xbox

<p>On <strong>April 23</strong>, Wired Productions' latest showcase featured several updates for upcoming games and a few special game announcements lined up this year.</p>

<p>Headed by indie publisher, Wired Productions, this year's Wired Direct is refreshing revival of the indie-focused digital showcase. The last Wired Direct happened back in 2021. It featured games like Arcade Paradise, and Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles.

<p>Some of these games made their return in this year's show. Arcade Paradise, for example, released its launch trailer for Arcade Paradise which will come out on Meta Quest.</p>

<p>This 24 Hour Offer is courtesy of this year’s ‘Landfall Day’. It's a special celebration by the developer that falls on April 1 every year. </p>

<p>“We do this as a special treat to our community so that as many people as possible will have the chance to play the game,” Landfall said on Steam.</p>

Each one will be competing for SpookTube views by filming the most number of scary stuff the Old World has to offer. Players have up to three in-game days to film.</p> 

<p>Everything players do is at the service of Ad Revenue. The more videos they upload, the more profit they earn. Whatever they earn can be used to buy new equipment that will better their chances at SpookTube fame.</p> 

<p>As much as its focus is on horror, Content Warning, much like other Landfall games, can be a hilarious experience. Players get to customize their Old World suits with ASCII faces and act as silly as they want to for their SpookTube videos.</p>

Content Warning: Landfall Releases New 'Co-op Horror' Game

If you miss playing FPS games from the 90s, there’s no better way than getting it at the source. Developers of classic shooters like Doom and Quake came together to bring the retro style to the new age.</p>

<p> With its pixel art style and first-person perspective, the game is a certified nostalgia trip that will bring you back to that first time you played an FPS game.</p>

<p>Wrath isn’t child’s play though. Its open-level design leaves you vulnerable in 15 different maps with 3 Guardians of the Old World to take down once and for all.</p> 

<p>Since its full release, developer KillPixel has unfortunately decided to remove multiplayer entirely. Still, as a strictly single-player game, Wrath’s hardcore gameplay is worth the hours of investment</p>

<p>Every run is a different beast, with weirder and weirder anomalies as you uncover the secret of the exclusion zones. The rides are long and the stakes are always high. </p>

<p>In Helldivers, true democracy is a crusade against bug-dom. Arrowhead continues the bullet diplomacy in this sequel to their satirical shooter. </p>

<p>Dive into the battlefield in teams of four and work together to bring “peace” by raining fire on every alien inhabitant. It’s simple: step up to the plate, or friendly fire will get you squashed along with them. </p> 

<p>Along with frantic team fights and top-notch gameplay, Helldivers is also noted for its balance. While it has microtransactions, it doesn’t feel unfair. </p>

<p>If you can stomach the occasional server issue, Helldivers 2 is a hell of a lot of fun. </p>

<p>Tekken put on a fresh face in this latest installment, with a redesigned roster and a new battle system. The Heat system soups up the action, setting the stage for aggressive plays and exciting comebacks. The training tools definitely help too, leveling the playing field for newcomers and giving veterans a place to sharpen their skills. </p>

<p>Choices form the core of the DONTNOD game experience and this new action RPG only raises the stakes. It’s technically more impressive, in combat and visual presentation. Plus, the emotional story deepens your investment and makes the necessary decisions even more difficult. </p> 


<h2>12.   <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/sons-of-the-forest/">Sons of the Forest</a></h2>

<p>The sequel to The Forest brings you back into the open cannibal woods. This time, in search of a billionaire’s daughter in a map much larger and more impressive than the last. </p> 

<p>Despite the gorgeous presentation,  it’s no less horrific and it adds new challenges to hinder your survival. Each season is a host of tiny roadblocks that, with their passing, might even render your hard work useless. Thankfully, you’ll have company: in friends or AI companions. </p>

<p>The full release last February brought a laundry list of improvements, and it’s only getting better from here.  </p>

<h2>11.   <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/oblivion-override/">Oblivion Override</a></h2>

<p>In Oblivion Override, you play a combat robot who infiltrates the Dulce Base to discover the secrets of a robot civilization.</p>  

<p>The game has smooth, responsive combat with a character that feels fully equipped from the get-go. It’s action from the first minute, and it only gets better from there. With a variety of playstyles to try out and bosses to defeat.</p> 

<p>Sure, the localization is less than perfect, but as one reviewer puts it: ultimately, the gameplay is so good that it eclipses everything else.</p> 

<h2>10.   <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/momodora-moonlit-farewell/">Momodora: Moonlit Farewell</a></h2>

<p>Momodora’s last chapter is a dark and delightful adventure. This curtain call brings forth all the elements we loved from the series: gorgeous art style, compelling storytelling and Metroidvania exploration. </p>

<p>The latest Like a Dragon title takes you on a grand getaway, from Japan to Sunny Hawaii. Aside from the tropical vacation, Infinite Wealth has a wealth of upgrades. From quality of life improvements, to new mechanics. Each add to the intuitiveness and balance of the open world. </p>  

<p>And as for new minigames, there’s food delivery, fishing, and…the biggest addition yet: a new island management game where you gather and build to restore the island to its former glory.</p> 

<p>It’s safe to say Infinite Wealth lives up to its name. </p> 

<h2>7.    <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/the-outlast-trials/">The Outlast Trials</a></h2>

<p>After a year in Early Access, the multiplayer Outlast game is finally out. And if you think things get a little easier with friends, you’d be wrong.</p>

<p>As a human guinea pig in a Cold War experiment, use your night goggles and best stealth moves to maneuver around Murkoff to earn your escape. You’ll also be collecting documents and resources that help you break free from trial.  With friends or without, the trials are no less terrifying.</p>

<p>The Outlast Trials has two events coming up soon. Plus, a full season that brings major updates like new rigs, trials, and more. </p>

<h2>6.   <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/granblue-fantasy-project-relink/">Granblue Fantasy: Relink</a></h2>
<p><em>Feb 1 - JRPG	</em></p>

<p>Relink is a fantasy adventure that delivers on the basic tenets of RPG: a noble quest steeped in effective combat and challenging boss fights.</p>  

<p>As a sequel, it ups the ante on real-time action. The pace is blazing fast, and mixing and matching from its roster of 20 characters gives you so much variety. Aside from your party of four, you can even request the aid of friends in co-op multiplayer.</p> 

<p>A few critics don’t love its almost too simplistic narrative. But if you like hack-and-slash games with some Monster Hunter flair, then you have a few thousand gamers to vouch for it. </p>

<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/turnip-boy-robs-a-bank/">Turnip Boy Robs a Bank</a></h2>
<p><em>Jan 18 - Adventure</em></p>

<p>Turnip Boy is on another criminal rampage. After his stint committing tax evasion, this sequel sees him robbing bank in the name of roguelike adventure. The original felony might’ve been Turnip Boy’s attempt at justice, there’s no justification for his actions here. With new guns in hand, the only goal is to steal as much money as possible. The absurdity gets leveled up with all his new food-based friends </p> 

<p>As silly as it might be, developer Snoozy Kazoo was serious abot features. This sequel is a big step up in combat and roguelite mechanics. Turnip Boy’s new hijinx may be  short, but it’s jam-packed with procedurally-generated stages, weapons, and silly hats to collect. </p>
 
<h2>4.    <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/high-on-life/">High on Life</a></h2>
<p><em>2023</em></p>

<p>Phew Phew Games showcase their style in this debut title. In Anomaly Agent, Earth’s destruction hangs in the balance and its up to Agent 70 to eliminate all anomalies.</p> 
 
<p>From start to finish, the game oozes with flair. Its heavily inspired by Katana Zero and it wears it on its sleeve. The pixel graphics emphasizes the lightning fast movements, and the weapons and upgrades keep combat interesting from one stage to the next. </p> 

<p>While it might get repetitive at later stages, its sense of humor and visuals could still keep you hooked for hours on end. </p>
 
<h2>3.    <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/persona-3-reload/">Persona 3 Reload</a></h2>
<p><em>Feb 2 - JRPG</em></p>

<p>The PS2’s  Persona 3 is back. Reload went far beyond a modern repaint. It’s a complete overhaul with new content, improved gameplay and full voice acting. </p> 

<p>Persona 3’s story may be timeless, Reloaded’s new character interactions gives it added depth. New social events open doors for learning more about favorite characters and the voice cast fully brings them to life. These interactions even give way to new perks in combat. </p> 

<p>Though a few things still feel dated, the slick UI and modernized graphics brings it up to par with the latest games…and keeps it fresh even for old fans. </p>


<h2>2.    <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/blazblue-entropy-effect/">BlazBlue Entropy Effect</a></h2>

<p>For flashy sidescrolling action, this latest BlazBlue title can give you your fix. Entropy Effect brings the stylish combos to a cyberspace future.</p>

<p>It’s unlike other Blazblue titles, but it brings its roster and its fighting game feel to a new roguelite formula. The ten playable characters offer a variety of playstyles, each as satisfying as the next. It’s this variety  that makes Entropy Effect so ‘addictively replayable ’

<p>Seeing what seems like a simple card game topping the list might be surprising. But, this is a roguelike deck-builder like never before. </p>

<p>A play on classic poker, every round has a target score called blinds that you have to beat with poker hands. Jokers help you fire up your hands with upgrades and card synergies that get you those high-scoring combos. That is, if you can craft the perfect deck to go against anything. 
</p> 

<p>Every run is a gamble and that’s what makes Balatro’s roguelike progression so fun. Play another round, get card upgrades, and maybe this time Lady Luck will be on your side. In Balatro, you can only go All In.</p>

Here's a quick showcase of some of the best PC games released since the start of the year.

17 New PC Games

<p>Maximum Entertainment is coming to GDC San Francisco! But, before that, they had a few exciting announcements to share.</p> 

<p>In a <a href="https://maximument.com/">blog post</a>, the Swedish publisher revealed announcements and trailers for their 2024 lineup.</p> 

<p>One of the games highlighted was <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/until-then/">Until Then</a>. The <a href="">visual novel</a> adventure features a time-bending story set in the Philippines. Maximum Entertainment announced the official release date with a new trailer. It will launch on <strong>May 23</strong> on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/until-then/">PC</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/until-then/">PS5</a>.</p>

<p>The publisher also announced platforms for upcoming adventure  <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/selfloss/">Selfloss</a>. The publisher plans to release it on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/selfloss/">PS5</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/selfloss/">Xbox Series X</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/selfloss/">Switch</a>. Together with this announcement, Maximum published a new trailer for the game. It showed exciting glimpses of combat and exploration for the slavic-inspired title.</p>

<p>Two other trailers were included in the publisher's update. One was for Squirrel With A Gun, a <a href="">simulator</a> game about a criminal rodent.</p>

<p><a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/double-dragon-gaiden-rise-of-the-dragons/">Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons</a> first released in July 27, 2023. In 2024, it will get a new DLC called Sacred Reunion. It's a major update which will come free for owners of the game. It's set to release on <strong>April 14</strong>.</p>

Released on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/double-dragon-gaiden-rise-of-the-dragons/">PC</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/double-dragon-gaiden-rise-of-the-dragons/">PlayStation</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/double-dragon-gaiden-rise-of-the-dragons/">Xbox</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/double-dragon-gaiden-rise-of-the-dragons/">Switch</a>, it has its highest playscore on PC with 8.5</p>

<p>Maximum Entertainment also has surprises for in-person participants of GDC San Francisco. These include exclusive hands-on demos of SunnySide and Spirit of the North 2.</p>

<p>GDC San Francisco will be held from March 18 to 22.</p>

New Reveals For Until Then, Selfloss And Other Maximum Entertainment Titles

<p>Eager island explorers on consoles will soon be getting a taste of Snowcastle's cozy <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/coop/">co-op</a> adventure.</p>

<p>Publisher Jetpack Collective has just announced an official PlayStation and Xbox release date for Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure. Jetpack confirmed the game’s release on <strong>March 21</strong> for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">PS5</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">Xbox Series X</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">PS4</a>.</p>

<p>The console release will be the 1.5 version of Ikonei Island which includes the new Blooming Beginnings update. The update will release on PC on the same day.</p> 

<p>Developers Snowcastle will be adding siginificant upgrades in the Blooming Beginnings update. These upgrades include an improved farming system.</p>

<p>A new seasonal update is also on the horizon this month, Jetpack Collective said.</p>

<p>Coco-Cloudberry Craze is Ikonei Island’s fourth seasonal event. Kicking off on <strong>March 28th</strong>, the event will feature easter activities like egg hunting. New Easter outfits and the Coco-Cloudberry Blossom plant will also be added.</p>

<p>“We have to thank our community for their incredible support and feedback and without doubt they have helped make Ikonei Island into a better game than it was at launch,” said Bendick Stang, the CEO of Snowcastle Games.</p>

<p>In <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure</a>, players get to explore an island populated with magical creatures. Players can harness the creatures’ magical abilities. These new abilities will allowing players to explore more of the island and uncover its mysteries.</p>

<p>Ikonei Island is also slated to release on <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/ikonei-island-an-earthlock-adventure/">Switch</a>. Unfortunately, the publisher did not make any updates on the version’s release.</p>
