<p>Besides the popularity of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/fall-guys-ultimate-knockout">Fall Guys</>, one other game that has caught everyone’s attention is <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/among-us">Among Us</a> from indie developer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/innersloth">InnerSloth</a>. As it turns out, a sequel was originally planned for the game, but the developers have decided to cancel it in order to improve on what they have now.</p>

<p>In an official statement released by the developers, they write:</p>

<div class="direct-quote">We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1… We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!</div>

<p>Apparently, one big issue that the devs have right now for the current game is that the codebase is pretty old (Among Us came out in 2018), meaning that it would be hard for devs to add newer things to the game moving forward. While it would be the harder task, the devs have said that choosing to improve on Among Us would mean ‘going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it.’</p>

<p>If anything, they can probably keep improving on this iteration of Among Us for a while, just enough to keep growing the player base. Then when they have enough brand recognition, they can launch the sequel without being too worried that the player base has dwindled. It’s just a thought.</p>

<p>As for incoming improvements, InnerSloth has pointed out that they are looking at server issues and a friends/account system. There are also plans for adding support for colorblind players. Besides that, there is an incoming new stage that will be Henry Stickmin-themed; development is still in early stages, but it’s great brand synergy for InnerSloth which also developed the highly-reviewed game.</p>
