Exciting news for fans of the mega-hit Japanese anime series FAIRY TAIL. On August 27th, KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Gust Co. Ltd. announced the release date for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/fairy-tail-2/">Fairy Tail 2</a>. The highly anticipated action RPG will be available both on PC and consoles.

The PC edition will launch on December 11 this year. Meanwhile, for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, the game will be released on December 13.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/fairy-tail/">FAIRY TAIL 2</a> serves as a direct sequel to KOEI TECMO's 2020 game of the same name. It is also currently under development.

In it, players can expect to relive the dramatic culmination of the original FAIRY TAIL series – the Alvarez Empire Arc.

Meanwhile, the newly revealed trailer, titled "FAIRY TAIL 2 – PV1," offers fans a glimpse into the game's story. The trailer depicts the FAIRY TAIL guild facing off against the formidable Alvarez Empire and the world-destroying Black Dragon Acnologia. It also provides a first look at the fast-paced magical battles that players will experience in FAIRY TAIL 2.

On the other hand, publishers have also started accepting pre-orders for the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/upcoming/rpg/">upcoming RPG</a> title. Fans and interested players can now pre-order two special editions, aside from the standard version.

The "FAIRY TAIL 2 GUILD BOX" edition includes the base game, a visual artbook titled "Sorcerer Magazine Special Issue: Game Release Edition Vol.2" inspired by the series' "Sorcerer Magazine." It also contains a special holographic Shikishi art board, available in three variations, and more.

For the ultimate fan experience, the "FAIRY TAIL 2 COMBO SET" pre-order edition offers all the items included in the GUILD BOX. Along with a special illustrated screen image featuring a printed autograph by series creator Hiro Mashima.

Additionally, a digital deluxe edition of FAIRY TAIL 2 will be available for pre-order soon. Players can expect bonus content such as costumes, characters, scenarios, and various DLCs to expand the gameplay experience. Further details about the digital deluxe edition will be revealed at a later date.

Those who pre-order FAIRY TAIL 2, physically or digitally, before January 6, 2025, will receive limited edition items. This included the "Miss FAIRY TAIL Contest" costume for Lucy as a bonus.

FAIRY TAIL 2 Gets Release Date

This marks the third chapter in the cozy <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/visual-novel/">visual novel</a> series, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/coffee-talk/">Coffee Talk</a>, that captivated players back in 2020. Coffee Talk: Tokyo promises fans a deeply personal journey in an alternate Japan where humans and fantastical beings coexist.

Set in a quaint Tokyo back alley, the game introduces a new yet familiar all-night coffee shop. This latest entry continues the tradition, placing players in the role of a mysterious barista, ready to serve handcrafted warm drinks and offer a sympathetic ear to an interesting roster of customers.

Players encounter a myriad of interesting characters like Kenji, a kappa salaryman on the brink of retirement, Vin, the Barista’s assistant grappling with the aftermath of a past disaster, and Ayame, a lively ghost searching for closure in her afterlife.

Other gameplay additions include advanced latte art options with sprinkle stencils and catching up with familiar characters through the enhanced Tomodachill in-game social media app.

Coffee Talk Brews New Chapter Set In Tokyo, Coming in 2025

Mooncube Games on August 26 released a major free update for <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/spirit-city-lofi-sessions/">Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions</a>. This update is the largest yet for the popular indie <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/simulation/">simulation</a> game.

Developers promised to introduce not only new content. It will also feature designed to enhance the game's core experience of relaxation and productivity.

Players will be able to customize their virtual space with over 500 new cosmetic options. This will includes new décor categories for the ceiling, side tables, wall art, and outdoor scenery. The update will also include a long-awaited feature: the ability to preview cosmetics before purchasing.

Creators also added two new spirits, APE-Bit and Flutterfrog, to the game's roster. Players can discover these adorable companions by fulfilling specific in-game conditions.

The update expands the range of activities available to players. Like new options like gaming and meditation. Also, players can now enjoy existing activities in more locations, with their spirit companions.

To enhance the game's relaxing ambiance, developers added four new soundscapes. Along with a new music playlist designed for work and study.

The expansion also includes several quality-of-life improvements for the game's productivity tools. These included resizable and repositionable widgets. Players will also have the ability to create several to-do lists with due dates.

Meanwhile, the latest update for Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions also addressed some minor issues.

Developers have corrected the game's petting animations. They have also fixed a bug affecting the "Quick mute all" shortcut. The visual glitch with the spiritographer level progression bar has also been resolved.

The Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions update is available now as a free download. To celebrate the release, Mooncube Games is offering a 30 percent discount on the game on Steam. The promo period runs from August 26 to September 9.

Just after theGamescom 2024 presentations, Nintendo chimed in with their own set of exciting news and updates.

Winter Crew’s indie project, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/fallen-tear-the-ascension/">Fallen Tear: The Ascension</a>, made its grand debut at Gamescom 2024. This upcoming 2D <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/metroidvania/">Metroidvania</a> is a single-player adventure with RPG mechanics.

It is the first title from The Winter Crew, a Philippine-founded studio established in 2020. Despite being a small group of passionate developers, The Winter Crew is committed to creating original video games of superior quality.

In Fallen Tear: The Ascension, players take on the role of Hira, a mysterious young boy on a quest to find answers about his forgotten past. Along the way, they encounter a cast of fully-voiced characters, each with their own unique stories to tell. 

Each decision will shape not only Hira's journey but also the fate of his companions and the world, creating a deeply personalized adventure. 

The world of Fallen Tear: The Ascension is no cakewalk. Players will experience a fluid combat system that blends traditional RPG elements with modern action, offering a wide range of strategic possibilities. Additionally, the protagonist will face complex puzzles and obstacles tailored to each area, demanding both wit and skill.

As a Metroidvania, unlocking new skills and abilities are essential for navigating the ever-changing environments that constantly pose a challenge for players.

Much of Fallen Tear’s inspirations come from legendary titles like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/elden-ring/">Elden Ring</a> for its intricate level design. Apart from that, the developers of Winter Crew also took a page from one of the <a href="whatoplay.com/switch/best/">Best Switch Games</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild/">The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild</a>. Both titles help Fallen Tear boast an immersive adventure packed with magic and wonder. 

As for its JRPG elements, the developers are proud to name beloved classics like <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/suikoden-iii/">Suikoden</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/valkyrie-profile-lenneth/">Valkyrie Profile</a> as their blueprints. These two inspirations resulted with the game’s hand-drawn art style., bringing its visually stunning fantasy world of Raoah to life.

Players who prefer thinking outside the box can also find numerous secrets hidden throughout its world. Even the developers cited Shadow of the Colossus as its inspirations for well-hid secrets. 

Fallen Tear: The Ascension can be wishlisted on Steam right now.

The game’s revamped UI is optimized for touch screens, offering a seamless experience on iOS devices.

Set in a neon-soaked cyberpunk city, Punch Club 2: Fast Forward invites players to step out of their makeshift gym garage and into the chaotic streets. In a high-tech, low-life society, technology has advanced in strange ways and fights break out on every corner. 

Players will take on the role of a fighter working to uncover the truth about a mysterious ‘Dark Fist.’ 

The gameplay features a detailed management system where players can plan out their fighter’s daily routines. They can earn money through various means such as working with the police or getting involved with the mafia. 

In order to gain an upper hand in this brave new world, players can take on quests to level up stats and unlock new fighting techniques. They can also accelerate their training using illegal software and neuro-technology, though this comes with its own risks. 

Lazy Bear Games has mastered their colorful take on humor after Graveyard Keeper. Despite the game’s bleak atmosphere, Punch Club 2 is filled with quirky NPCs, bizarre interactions, and multiple storylines that offer different paths to explore. It also comes with numerous easter eggs and familiar faces for pop culture enthusiasts.

Punch Club 2 released July 20 last year on consoles, receiving a decent gamerscores ranging from 7.7 to 8.8. The game is also available on Steam with a limited-time daily deal offering a 50% discount, which includes the main game, soundtrack, and art book. 

Punch Club 2 is now available to download on the App Store for USD 9.99/€9.99. A demo is available which alolows players to go through the game's first 45 minutes. It also offers an option to bundle the game with its first DLC, Iron Fist, for USD 14.99/€17.99.

The release date for Halls of Torment: Premium, the mobile version of the popular roguelike survival game, has been revealed. Creators announced on August 23rd that they will release Halls of Torment: Premium for mobile on October 10.

In a press release, Chasing Carrots and Erabit Studios have also opened pre-registration on iOS and Android.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/halls-of-torment/">Halls of Torment</a> first made its debut via PC in 2023. It was developed by Chasing Carrots, and published by Erabit Studios. The game is a combination of roguelike and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/best/survival/">survival</a> elements. It incorporates the addictive gameplay from the critically acclaimed <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/best/roguelike/">roguelike</a> <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/vampire-survivors/">Vampire Survivors</a>. In addition, it features visuals reminiscent of late-90s RPGs.

The game throws players headfirst into the titular Halls of Torment. It is a labyrinthine underworld teeming with unholy horrors. Players take control of a diverse roster of heroes. Each has its own unique strengths and playstyles. As they delve deeper into the abyss, they will face relentless waves of enemies. They can also expect epic boss fights with tormented Lords.

The key to survival lies in strategic character customization. Players can craft a build tailored to their preferred playstyle. They can do so by unlocking and equipping potent abilities, character traits, and powerful items

This tactical stealth adventure game is set to launch in early 2025 on multiple platforms, including PC via Steam and Epic Games, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

The Game Kitchen is responsible for the creation of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/blasphemous-2/">Blasphemous</a> series, the single-player Metroidvania franchise which has garnered high marks on PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X. 

In this new IP, The Stone of Madness transports players to an 18th-century Spanish asylum where five flawed prisoners are trapped within the walls of a timeworn Jesuit monastery.

The devs describe the game as a unique blend of stealth, strategy, and psychological tension.

The mental health of each character plays a crucial role in their escape, with traumas and phobias influencing their actions. Failure to maintain sanity could lead to negative traits like paranoia, dementia, or violent outbursts. Fans of Red Hook Studios’ <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/darkest-dungeon/">Darkest Dungeon</a> will find similarities between their game’s mental meters. 

Similar to Team17’s indie strategy game, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-escapists/">The Escapists</a>, players must navigate the corridors, uncover useful tools, and avoid detection from the jailers. With its dynamic day-night cycle, there are different opportunities and challenges depending on the time of day. Players can choose between two different escape plans, each with its unique storylines and objectives, making every playthrough distinct.

Instead of Blasphemous’ 2D side-scrolling camera, The Stone of Madness is presented in an isometric perspective with stunning hand-drawn artwork inspired by the legendary artist Francisco de Goya.

CAPCOM hyped up their audiences at <a href="https://whatoplay.com/post/gamescom-onl-2024/">Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024</a> by revealing new details for next year’s highly anticipated <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/monster-hunter-wilds/">Monster Hunter Wilds</a>. The trailer introduced players to a new hunting ground, fearsome monsters, and fresh gameplay additions that could make this the best Monster Hunter to date.

The highlight of the trailer was the Scarlet Forest, a vibrant new locale within the Forbidden Lands. This lush woodland, characterized by towering greenery and crimson waters, serves as the backdrop for intense hunts. 

Among the new monsters introduced was Lala Barina, a spider-like creature classified under the rarely seen Temnoceran species. Known for its sharp, spindly limbs, the Lala Barina can unfurl its thorax into a massive, rose-like form. 

CAPCOM also detailed the apex predator of the Windward Plains, the Rey Dau. The Flying Wyvern, first glimpsed at Summer Game Fest, rules the region with the ability to unleash destructive electrical strikes. It converts the sand tides into sharp glass materials to hunt their prey. 

Among the other highlights from Gamescom 2024 was its three-day gameplay showcase. Each day Monster Hunter developers including Ryozo Tsujimoto showcased unfiltered gameplay of a four-player hunt. 

Throughout the showcase, CAPCOM emphasized the seamless exploration available in Wilds. Players can embark on expeditions with various objectives, targeting monsters directly or exploring freely. A Twitter user compiled the list of new features here.

Wilds’ new approach to its regions comes in the form of a semi-open world. This is akin to Monster Hunter World’s ‘Guiding Lands,’ but scaled to a hundred.
