If the glory isn’t enough, shape your legacy in Be a Pro Mode. There’s more stuff to do this time, and more modes to play. </p>

<p>Unfortunately, it was heavily criticized for its online issues and repetitive commentating. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent game that still continues to improve itself. Let’s hope NHL ‘18 goes bigger! </p>

	 <p>When the ball is life, 2K’s annual basketball game always delivers. For starters, it was the evolution of 2K to adapt to the new generation platforms. Offering crisp HD textures and realistic physics. </p>

<p>NBA 2K15 returns with their signature Career Mode. Create your own customizable character and help him become the best player of all time. Simulate events, create your own team, or just enjoy the life of an actual NBA player. </p>

<p>However good the game is, it’s marred with performance and technical issues during their first release. But that was almost 3 years ago and it’s safe to say that the game has improved over the years.</p> 

<p>It receives a playscore of 8.98 </p>

	<p>There's more testosterone-pumping action in the most definitive Madden NFL yet. Far from just another roster update, EA raised the bar with its elevated gameplay mechanics and new game modes that make for a complete football experience. </p>

<p>It improves on passing mechanics to give way to a variety of playstyles. If not for being the most realistic football game, it’s also the most ambitious. Create heightened strategic plays with aggressive catches and run-after catches, or take on a greater challenge in its new Draft Champions mode. </p>

<p>It’s a total game-changer for the football enthusiast with their improved visuals and the increase in risk and reward. Madden 2017 may have been good, but it doesn’t capture much of this game’s improvements. Let’s hope that <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/madden-nfl-17/">Madden 2017</a> will raise the bar higher. </p>

Take note that once the city grows, it requires more maintenance and the problems go bigger every day. But that’s not a problem, with your thriving community, all is well. Except MAYBE for the game’s numerous game-breaking bugs and unresponsive UI’s. Just give it a try. </p>

The extraterrestrial flora and fauna makes up for a very interesting synergy between city-building and the survival of the human race. Think of it as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/simcity/">SimCity</a> in space. </p>

<p>In this alien-planet light-years away from Earth, players must nourish the human race and help them adapt to the many problems this planet can offer. Protect your species by adapting to the environment, conserving oxygen, and multi-task using various resource-producing buildings. </p>

<p>But despite its many praises, the game was criticized for its heavy chore-work. For a game about casual city-building, it seems like busywork when it comes to its various multi-tasking tendencies. It wasn’t for everyone, but it’s still a fun game to try. </p>

<p>Before El Presidente's scheduled return was announced last E3, Tropico 5 was the latest title in the well-loved city-building series. Known for its warm, friendly, and fun gameplay, the series offered a welcome change to the optimization-crazed builders of its time. But in this fifth installment, the beloved dictator is bringing the tropical heat to an all-time high, taking management up a notch, and adding a healthy dose of challenge.</p>

<p>Unlike their previous titles, 5 takes on a more Civilization route as you begin your dictatorial journey at the dawn of the 20th century. With this, it not only improves on gameplay but also on their signature tongue-in-cheek politics. </p>

<p>Move from era to era; supplying weapons for the World Wars, assassinating rivals, alienating whole groups of people, and other fun and lighthearted totalitarian activities.  With their era-exclusive buildings and risky decision-making, you'll actually have to BECOME a dictator to survive the tides of time. </p>

<p>While it's a lot different than their usual fare, it's still fun, interesting, and hysterically political, it has a playscore of 7.59.</p>

<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/banished/">Banished</a></h2>

<p>A city-builder with a strong blend of survival, Banished brings the best of both worlds. An indie game by <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/shining-rock-software/">Shining Rock Software</a>, it rose up to the top of the charts when it released last 2014, and it still currently maintains its thriving community of fans. </p>

<p>Like what the title suggests, Banished puts you in charge of a remote community of outcasts, operating at an individual level instead of state affairs. Assign your citizens into specific jobs, and use them to funnel resources into the town. As a product of its survival elements, the game puts a premium on the products you collect. It gets especially difficult with slow-growing trees, breakable tools, and the ravages of the winter season. Manage your resources carefully, make your citizens happy, or risk the death of hundreds.</p>

<p>While it's arguably more survival than city-builder, Banished is said to be a great change of pace. Take off the godly omnipotence, and prepare for humbling management experience. It has a playscore of 8.1.</p>


<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/tropico-3/">Tropico 3</a></h2>

<p>The third in the Tropico series, and the first game handled by <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/haemimont-games/">Haemimont Games</a>. Having had a rich background in historical games, Tropico 3 was the perfect game to begin their run in the franchise. Set in the eponymous Caribbean isle, play as the fascist El President as he attempts to bring his people through the struggles of the Cold War. With their setting, you'll have to manage your controversial diplomatic relations, along with micromanaging your growing city. </p>

<p>Aiming to revitalize the charm of the original Tropico games, this third title offers a balanced perspective on the dictatorship. Your choices have a direct impact on the citizens, and they're not always good. The game has 7 different factions vying for your attention, each with their own interests to take care of. Juggle each of their demands to retain your position of power...or put for authoritarian foot down and show them who's boss.</p>

<p>Praised for its fantastic soundtrack and improved visuals, it receives a playscore of 8.23.</p>

<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/tropico-4/">Tropico 4</a></h2>

<p>Built using the same engine, UI, models, and voices as the previous title, it's easy to say that this 4th installment is essentially the same game with a different coat of paint. But this title managed to edge out the competition by improving on many of the franchise' core elements, topping it all off with a handful of expansions that add new elements to the political and technical gameplay. Return (again) as the customizable El Presidente, and prepare to face a new array of problems and obstacles.</p>

<p>Providing intricate optimizations while keeping the outrageous charm of the original, it serves as an excellent middle ground between the two Haemimont productions. Rule the island with clichéd iron fist, or become a benevolent people pleaser--anything to achieve the status of an economic powerhouse. It's this choice of gameplay that makes the game stand out, putting political twists on the usual city building. </p>

<p>Listen to advisors, manipulate nations, manage the economy, and build, build, build. With its addicting gameplay, the game will keep you coming back for more despotic conquests. Play it, and that’s an order! It has a playscore of 8.42. </p>

<p>Considered one of the greatest achievements in the City Building genre in the last decade, Cities Skylines is a masterclass in style and simulation. Step into their online battle arenas, and play with strangers and friends in up to five standard maps. Fight alongside your adoptive family in Conquest, and face the consequences of battle. <p>2002's iconic RPG gets a new coat of paint. A neo-noir thriller that puts emphasis on a multitude of choices that’s set in a distant cyberpunk future where lifelike Android dominates the world. It feels like watching a way worse version of Blade Runner.</p> 

<p>Like usual, there won’t be any hack and slash action and shooting around corners. Its third-person adventure takes you to the lives of three Android characters and navigates through their individual tales whose fates are decided by the players themselves. Deal with the struggles of sentience, fulfill your duty, or write your own destiny with Kara, Connor, and Markus. Each character possesses a story that differs from the other and it creates a unique pace to the game. Use augmented vision to search for clues and uncover the hidden layers of its story.</p>  

<p>Knowing Quantic Dream, every narrative is carefully written and topped with philosophical depth. It’s set to release sometime in 2018 as a PlayStation 4 Exclusive.</p>

We remembered as the game took us into their sci-fi world where people and anthropomorphized animals live side by side. Announced during this year’s E3 with a gorgeous cinematic trailer, it was a surprise to finally see the long-running rumor turn to reality.</p> 

<p>This game serves as a prequel to the adventures of Jade and Pey'j, set a few generations before their time. But the developers stated that it’s for the players to find out the true continuity of this entry. Similar to its original, the gameplay revolves around exploring System 3 and its myriad of oddball creatures from a third-person perspective. As a customized creature, explore its detailed environments and develop your character from top to bottom. Start from the slums, get richer, and finally own a ship to soar around the skies.</p>

<p>Lastly, the game features a single-player and co-op experience. Not much was explained with its co-op mode, but its single-player campaign offers a shared-universe that affects players at the same time with specific events.</p> 

<p>No release date yet it’s slated for a 2018 release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.</p> 

<h2>6. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/shadow-of-the-colossus/">Shadow Of The Colossus</a></h2>

	<p>‘Lo and behold, one of PlayStation 2’s gem make it to the modern generation consoles. Team ICO’s master-crafted action-adventure game gets the makeover it deserves to the PlayStation 4.</p> 

<p>It’s not just a simple remaster. It’s a completely different experience. The visual enhancements, textures, lighting, and smooth frames make you feel like going back in time to witness this amazing game in high definition. There’s not much difference with its story. Play as a silent warrior determined to revive his dead girlfriend by eliminating the souls of 12 Colossi.</p>

<h2>5. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/far-cry-5/">Far Cry 5 on PlayStation 4</a>, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/far-cry-5/">Xbox One</a>, and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/far-cry-5/">PC</a></h2>

	<p>This <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/first-person-shooter/">first-person shooter</a> returns with all-new surprises and dangerous wildlife. Move away from the chilly mountains of Nepal, and step into a fictional rural county in Montana. Inside this mysterious town lies a religious cult with a quest to tear down anyone who stands in their way. It’s a matter of survival as you get torn between its Helter Skelters and the game’s dangerous environment.</p>  
 
<p>This is Ubisoft’s most ambitious Far Cry game to date. It’s the first of the series to remove radio towers and a minimap. That’s like the equivalent of removing your phone’s headphone jack. Another game, another crazy.</p> 

<p>It’s slated to release this February 27, 2018 on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.</p> 

<h2>4. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/the-last-of-us-2/">The Last Of Us: Part II</a></h2>

	<p>This sequel to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/naughty-dog/">Naughty Dog</a>’s emotional action-adventure adds more feels to the feels train. The clicker infested world has grown worse and the cure isn’t coming anytime soon. It’s not fun and games anymore as both characters mature in every passing season. Set 5 years after <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps3/the-last-of-us/">the first game</a>, expect the two of them to go hand in hand in a dying world.</p> 

<p>Its latest cinematic trailer shows a more brutal side of the picture. It even drew flak due to its “extreme” amount of blood plastered on the screen. Perhaps the game’s biggest change is the focus of Ellie. No one knows what happens to Joel yet, and who knows what kind of problems they are gonna face soon.</p>

<p>No gameplay and story details are revealed yet but the game is rumored to release sometime this 2018 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.</p> 

<h2>3. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/red-dead-redemption-2/">Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4</a> and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-one/red-dead-redemption-2/">Xbox One</a></h2>
	
	<p>One of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/rockstar-games/">Rockstar</a>’s critically acclaimed series has a sequel. After hints, teasers, and the occasional delays, it’s finally coming. Not many gameplay details were revealed but players get to control a man named Arthur Morgan. A troubled cowboy with a thing for making enemies. Throughout the game, he’ll be making unlikely allies in order to survive the brutal American heartland.</p> 

<p>Story aside, it seems like Rockstar promises to create a world as big as its predecessor and could exceed GTA V’s. The graphics, knowing Rockstar, will be more realistic and fluid. The latest trailer shows moving trains, saddling horses, intense gunfights, and a whole lot of shouting.</p> 

<p>It’s set to release sometime this second half of 2018 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.</p> 

<h2>2. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/death-stranding/">Death Stranding</a></h2>

	<p>It’s announcement during 2016’s E3 made it one of the most anticipated games of this generation. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/developers/kojima-productions/">Kojima</a>’s latest game doesn’t show us any gameplay videos yet, but it features Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus carrying a dead child in a desolated beach. He’s also accompanied by other star-studded casts such as Mads Mikkelsen and popular director Guillermo del Toro.</p>

<p>Silent Hills may have been canceled for good, but this return opens new doors for his video game development dreams.  Del Toro is also helping Kojima as they team up to make an ambitious science-fiction game that might exceed Metal Gear’s.</p>

<p>Although there has been no news on how the game works so far, it’s only a matter of time before Kojima drops a gameplay trailer soon. Unfortunately, we have to make do with its weird cinematics and odd posters for the meantime.</p>

<h2>1. <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps4/god-of-war/">God of War</a></h2>

	<p>The Number One badass from Sony returns in a completely different light. Kratos embarks on a new and perilous adventure to the realm of Norse Mythology. Together with his Son, they go on a grand quest to the realm of Frost Giants and long-serpent monsters.</p>

<p>The game is still in development but every once in awhile they release bits and pieces of the game’s story and gameplay. Not much has changed compared to the original but instead of using his signature Blades, he uses a Magical Axe similar to Thor’s Mjolnir, but without the lightning. Its new third-person camera features a new form of angle that exudes a more hands-on feeling when decapitating monsters.</p>

<p>But that’s not the game’s biggest surprise, a new character, Atreus, his son, will also accompany Kratos in their journey that could change the world as we know it. It’s coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 sometime this 2018.</p>
