Another anime game. Oh boy.

As much as I hate modern anime, I cannot be deterred away from playing this game knowing that you get to control giant mechs in battle.

And not just any mech, I'm talking Mazinger Z, Voltez V and more.

I grew up watching these amazing old-school anime mech shows, so it is a no-brainer that this would attract a gamer such as myself.

But after playing 30 minutes of this game, my excitement turned to annoyance with the amount of bad writing and expositions dumps this game's campaign has.

It's really bad. And to top it off, the phasing of the story is god awful.

I'll try my best not to spoil it.

SUMMARY:

The earth was destroyed by aliens. Humans now need to live in a hidden shelter and their memories erased. But there is a secret army hidden inside the shelter and they recruit pilots to help them fight against the aliens. END.

So, its a very mediocre story you might think, but it gets bad. Really fast. Especially with the amount of uninteresting characters shoved to your face like the game is saying "Here, this is a new idiot you need to like! Enjoy! By the way, here's another!" It gets extremely exhausting. I spent the majority of character dialogue and cutscenes pressing the skip button.

Lets go over the PROS and CONS.

PROS:

1. The combat. The combat is just like most 3rd person lock-on games. And, I'm ok with that.
2. The amount of customization you can do for your mech is amazing. Like having a fire based melee mech? You can do just that. Want a lightning based shotgun build? Can do!
3. There is coop. Haven't tried it though. But, the fact that its in there makes it so much better. Nothing is more fun than playing a game that relies on combat with a friend.

Sadly, this is where the pros end cause it's all downhill from here.

CONS:

1. The story. It's as bad as Ganblue Fantasy Relink's story. It's equivalent to a bucket of day old cat feces.
2. The music. Its obnoxiously bad. At times, during combat, you'll hear the vocals go "namanamaneyney namanamaneyney!!" over and over again and its enough to drive you mad. Also, there is a cringe jap/rap crap song in there. *puke*!
3. The interruptions during boss battles in the campaign. You'll spend all your skills and cooldown to bring down the boss, but hold on, look at the HP! It didn't budge! That's because you need to wait for the dialogue from characters talking to you to exhaust, so they can introduce to you a new skill that CAN ONLY DAMAGE THE ENEMY! WHAT THE FUCK! THIS IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING! This is by far one of the most annoying experience I had playing this game. Or any game on that matter. Being interrupted is one of my biggest peeves in life. And this game hands it over to you like its the biggest feature it offers. GARBAGE!
4. The side quests. Now, side quests in the quest hub is fine. But the side quests offered to you in town is downright dull and an instant IGNORABLE CONTENT for me. No way will I spend minutes to complete trash content when all I want is to enjoy mech combat in the quest hub.

And yeah. I guess that is all for this extremely mediocre game.

Do I recommend it?

Not on full price. Hell no.

But, if you got a few friends to play with, I'd say buy it on sale for the coop experience and also for the mech combat gameplay.

Expositions Galore!!!
