I discovered Northgard while looking for new-ish strategy games. I was playing [Dawn of Man](https://whatoplay.com/pc/dawn-of-man/) and [Banished](https://whatoplay.com/pc/banished/) at that time. Northgard is a step above these two games but I still got bored after a few hours playing it.

Looking back, it must be the un-engaging campaign. You start off anticipating the campaign because it's 'advertised' as something to look forward to.. but it failed to connect with me.

But it's not all bad. The mechanics are easy-to-understand and visuals are actually good. Maybe if I played it without expectations, I might have enjoyed it more.
