While not without some issues, Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour is absolutely a worthwhile release of an absolute classic. It is admittedly better played on a keyboard as designed, but the original title is given a clean representation with this version. The addition of director’s commentary as well as a healthy brand new mission pack denotes a level of care for the game that didn’t necessarily have to be shown.
I got swept up in Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, and although I had initially planned on just checking out the new chapter, I ended up beating the entire game over again. There's a reason that these classic games like Shadow Warrior and Rise of the Triad still hold up, and it's mostly due to strong level design that very few developers are striving for.
If you’ve been a fan of Duke Nukem’s since the nineties, it behooves you to welcome him back by purchasing Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour. The game has never been better, and now it comes bearing a heap of new and exciting content that fans are sure to appreciate. Conversely, if you’re new to the franchise, why not start now and experience one of the industry’s greatest classics? It’s hard, yes, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun!
