USC: Counterforce Unveils New Game Mode at Strategy Fest
ByJamzkie LimAugust 31, 2023

Developer Angry Cat Studios and Publisher Firesquid announced the participation of their game, USC: Counterforce, at Steam's Strategy Fest. It's happening from August 28 - September 4.

This announcement comes alongside a major game update, featuring a brand-new game mode and a generous 25% discount.

USC: Counterforce is a turn-based tactics game where players control a team of space commandos to investigate and neutralize an alien menace on the planet M-8322. The game has a class-free skill system and passive abilities, encouraging players to experiment with different combinations of skills. Local co-op gameplay is also available.

The latest update introduces the new "Defend the Base" mode. This merges the concepts of base management elements with turn-based tactical defense.

There are also other new enhancements to the game:

  • Weapon Prototypes: Discover powerful weapons with enhanced properties. These weapons cost Squad Points and crafting materials. They can be further upgraded and are obtainable in the Single Mission mode.
  • New Items - Scanners: The scanners can reveal the fog of war, enemy positions, and threat levels.
  • The update also includes gameplay improvements, balance adjustments, and bug fixes to ensure a smoother gaming experience.

Game Features:

  • Assemble the Ultimate Squad: Players can customize the team without class restrictions.
  • Varied Weapons and Tools: Players can use various melee and ranged weapons. These include hacking tools, mines, turrets, and more to complete missions.
  • Fully Interactable Environments: Players can fight in fully destructible environments. In addition, they can control the battlefield, build barricades, use hazards, set traps, and more.
  • Multiple Game Modes: Play solo in the Single Mission Mode or build and defend a functional outpost in the "Defend the Base" mode. Players can also embark on multi-mission operations with unique objectives. Players can use the classic hot-seat or Steam's "Remote Play Together" feature to play in co-op multiplayer mode.
During Steam Strategy Fest, USC: Counterforce is available at a 25% discount, reducing the regular price of $19.99. The game supports both English and Chinese. Join the commando community on the official Discord to team up with fellow players.

About Angry Cat Studios

Angry Cat Studios was founded in 2015 with the Ultimate Space Commando (USC) release on Steam. In the following years, the studio experimented with a few prototypes in a search for its next project, resulting in a hardcore puzzle-platformer PC game, Mimic Hunter, which the team has ported to Nintendo Switch. Now, they're back into the world of PC games to bring players to USC: Counterforce! Though it's a very small company, they are still triple A: adorable, aspiring, and authentic.
