Yes, you read that right. You can now buy Steam credits using the Grab app. Just be ready to pay a steep 20% markup, which is similar to how much you’ll pay when using the GCash.
I was looking to get some food for lunch when I saw Steam’s logo on one of the listings. The available credits range from PHP 50.00 (for PHP 60) to PHP 2200.00 (for 2640.00). I don’t know who buys Steam credits using the Grab but it’s good to know that an alternative exists. The only time it may be worth it is when you use your Grab reward points to get a discount.
Here are the steps:
1. Open your Grab App
2. Go to "Mart"
3. Scroll through the all the different shops until you find "Steam".
Alternatively, use the app's search function and lookup "Steam" or you can go to the "Digital Goods" section under Mart.
4. Select the amount you want to purchase.
On the list of available credits, tap on the "+" button of the amount of credits you're buying.
5. Complete the order
Tap "Add to Basket" then the "Place Order" button. Grab will do it's thing as if ordering a normal item. This can take between 20 seconds to a minute.
6. Retrieve the Steam key
Once the order is completed, go to your Account page and tap the "My Rewards" button. On the next page, tapping on your purchase will reveal the Steam code.
7. Redeem the code.
To load the Steam credit to your account, just go the Steam's redemption page and enter the code.
