Tony Hawk had brought skating to a whole generation of millenials when he released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater back in the 90s, and now he’s come back with a remaster with the help of Vicarious Visions. Just in, it’s been announced that a next-gen upgrade will be coming to THPS1+2, and what’s more, the game will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Here’s the announcement:
This next-gen upgrade is said to come with ‘native 4K graphics, spatial audio, and enhanced atmospheric features.’ Cross-gen progression is also a thing, so you can just port over your progress from the previous gen to the new one. No details have been released about the Switch version of the game, but it would be great if that port of the game could come with its own exclusive content.
It’s worth noting that upgrading the game for the PlayStation and the Xbox have a very different set of rules, but the breakdown basically goes:
- There is currently no upgrade offered for the physical edition for Xbox One.
- Owners of the Digital Deluxe editions can download the next-gen upgrade for free (players in Japan will have to pay 100 yen for it, though)
- Owners of the digital version of the game that aren’t the deluxe edition can pay $10 for a ‘Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle’
- If you own a physical copy of the PS4 version, you can upgrade to the PS5 version, but you have to have your disc in the console when you play the next-gen version.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is now available for the PS4 and Xbox One, and it comes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 26. No release date has been set for the Nintendo Switch, but it is expected to come out sometime this year.
