New features and enhanced visuals await players in the newest version of Call of the Wild: The Angler. The game's developer, Expansive Worlds, released the latest edition on October 31. The creator dubbed the game's first significant update The Challenger.
The update's release came three months after Expansive Worlds launched the fishing simulation game. Much of its development came from community feedback, developers said.
With The Challenger Update, we really tried to tackle some of the great feedback we've been getting from our wonderful community,
said Paul Rustchynsky, game director at Expansive Worlds. We're humbled by their support and look forward to continuing to improve and expand the game,
he added.
The Challenger Update contains new gameplay features, improvements, bug fixes, and other changes. It also includes full in-game support for DualSense and DualShock4 wireless controllers. As a result, players can have the option to switch game controls.
The new features in the game consist of daily and weekly challenges and a brand-new shop. Two in-game feed sections were also placed to provide players with the latest updates.
Meanwhile, critical improvements to the game involved visual and motion enhancements. These included putting an AMD Fidelity Stochastic Screen Space Reflections (SSSR). With this technology, players can expect better water surface reflections, developers explained.
The Challenger Update also improved water transitions, boat motion, fish animation, and the verlet system. Developers have also released full patch notes on the game's official website.
Call of the Wild: The Angler has received six updates, addressing more than 150 game issues, since its launch last August 31, 2022.
Before The Challenger, Expansive Worlds released version 1.05 last October 14.
