Sumo Leamington's Stampede: Racing Royale Charges onto Steam

Beginning July 27, racing fans and interested players can try out a new and upcoming kart racer game from Sumo Digital.

Stampede: Racing Royale, where battle royale meets kart racing, has kicked off its Steam Playtest on July 27.

This Steam Playtest is a chance to take a first look at some of the features and content being designed for the game, developer Sumo Leamington said.

The Playtest contained eight different race tracks and one battle arena.

However, developers disclosed on Steam that the Playtest edition contained work-in-progress content. In turn, they urged players to submit feedback as they planned to release an Early Access version this year.

Players should note that progression and unlocks will not carry over to future Playtests or Early Access, they added.

The Playtest event will last until July 31, British Summer Time.

Sumo Leamington is a division of British game developer Sumo Digital. Stampede: Racing Royale is their first major game. Stampede: Racing Royale pits 60 players against each other in what its creators described as a “wild and chaotic racing game.”

The game features three-round eliminator events before proceeding to the finals. These rounds are called Stampede Races and Stampede Battles.

Stampede Races are classic karting races on inventive circuits. Stampede Battles, on the other hand, are arena-based fights. In it, players need to score the most points by hitting or avoiding other players.

Meanwhile, developers said more content, like events and challenges, will be introduced in Stampede: Racing Royale upon its release.

Stampede: Racing Royale is currently in "early development." Aside from its Early Access release on PC, Sumo Leamington has considered porting the game to consoles.
