May the force be with players of the hit sports-action game Rocket League. American video game company Psyonix has collaborated with Lucasfilm for a Star Wars-themed update for Rocket League.

For decades, the droids of Star Wars have warmed our hearts with their friendly beeps, lovable banter, and memorable sounds, Psyonix wrote in a press release.

The game's newest downloadable content (DLC) will launch on May 4 to celebrate "Star Wars Day." This is also the first Rocket League and Star Wars crossover.

Players can get their hands on droid-inspired decals like BB8, R2-D2, C-3PO, and K-2SO in bundles or individual packs. The bundle lets them get droid-themed decals for Fennec, Octane, Dominus, Takumi, four wheels, and Two Toppers. It also contains a Droid player title.

For players that don't own the associated cars, another bundle which includes the droid content and painted versions of those cars will be available too, added Psyonix.

On the other hand, players can opt to get individual packs. Developers will also give out free content from the Star Wars DLC. These included a Rust Bucket player title and an RD-D2 player banner.

Psyonix has partnered with several mega-franchises, including video games, for crossover events in Rocket League. The game has previously featured The Witcher, Halo, Fallout, and even Goat Simulator items.

The Star Wars content update for Rocket League will be available until May 16, Psyonix said. Rocket League first hit PC in 2015. It was a sequel to the 2008 video game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, also developed by Psyonix. The game combines soccer and racing, in which players take control of rocket-powered cars while playing soccer.

Upon its release, it received commercial and critical success. Three years after its launch, Psyonix reported that Rocket Sales had reached over 10 million sales.

In 2020, Psyonix made Rocket League a free-to-play title.
