The developers of Reigns, the hit card-based game, have launched another title exclusively for mobile phone players. Reigns: Three Kingdoms will be available on Netflix Games on November 29, according to Nerial and Devolver Digital. The game is the fifth entry in the award-winning Reigns franchise.
Reigns: Three Kingdoms is loosely based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Its main storyline takes place during the last years of the Han Dynasty.
Players navigate their way through one of Imperial China's most turbulent periods. They start the game as street beggars. And they need to climb the social ladder to rule all 14 regions of Imperial China.
"Players will explore the many factions, wars, and heroes of the epic story, negotiating with rivals, strengthening alliances, converting enemies, and recruiting soldiers to fight," developers said.
A "metaphysical twist" also awaits them. In it, they will have to race against time "to understand the consequences their actions will have on history." Developers promised to bring more elements and features to Reigns: Three Kingdoms.
(It) expands on the principles explored in the previous Reigns games by creating a unique battle system,
Nerial and Devolver Digital wrote in a press statement. (These will bring) new dimension to the game's core concept,
they added.
The new battle system is one of the new features in Reigns: Three Kingdoms. According to its creators, the game will have a player-vs-AI option and an online asynchronous PvP mode.
Aside from an evolved battle system, the game boasts over 100 characters, 1,500 card permutations, and dozens of quests.
Netflix Games is the streaming giant's game service. Subscribers of the platform can play over 40 titles for free using their mobile phones.
Last November 29, Netflix dropped at least seven new games, including Reigns: Three Kingdoms.
