Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that PlayStation VR2 users can access their PC VR games through a new adapter. Available August 7, this allows players to expand their VR experience by integrating PlayStation VR2 with SteamVR’s thousand titles.

Players can dive into popular SteamVR games like Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder. This strategy marks a major step in bridging the gap between console and PC gaming. A feat that offers more content and flexibility for VR enthusiasts.

The adapter is priced at $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99. It will be available at select retailers and at PlayStation's website. A DisplayPort 1.4 compatible cable (sold separately) and a Steam account are required.

Setting up is simple. Players connect the PlayStation VR2 to the PC using the adapter and DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Next, they download and install the PlayStation VR2 App and SteamVR App. This allows for configuring settings and play areas as well.

Note that all PlayStation VR2 exclusive games like The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR and Horizon Call of the Mountain are not available on SteamVR. Considering Sony’s adoration for PC Ports lately, players can expect these exclusives ported soon.

Sony revealed the minimum PC requirements for PS VR2 gameplay:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later)
  • Memory: 8 GB or more
  • Graphics:

Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or later / AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later

Considering the PS VR2 is optimized for PS5. Features like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback will not be available on PC. The good news is that other advanced features such as 4K visuals, a 110-degree FOV, finger touch detection, see-through view, foveated rendering (without eye tracking), and 3D audio are still supported.

Sony encourages players to explore Steam's diverse VR games. Titles like Elite Dangerous and VR Chat might expect a spike in new player count.
