Oddballers, an upcoming dodgeball-inspired game, finally has a release date. According to France-based game publisher Ubisoft, it will launch on PC and game consoles on January 26, 2023. Their announcement came roughly 10 months after they decided to delay the game’s release.
The game will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox One Ubisoft added. They also said Xbox Series X|S players can access the upcoming 3D multiplayer party game through compatibility mode.
Oddballers’ launch date was initially set for March 28, 2022. Twenty days before its scheduled release, Ubisoft decided to postpone its launch. They said the developers needed more time to make improvements to the game.
Oddballers is created by Game Swing. The Danish developer has changed its name from “Reign Bros.” They made another game about dodgeball called Stikbold: A Dodgeball Adventure. Oddballers’ publisher and developers promised a “refreshing and absurd” take on dodgeball.
A new type of dodgeball game, players in Oddballers can throw anything and everything at their opponents to win,
Ubisoft said. The more absurd, the better,
they added.
In it, a team of four to six players engages in a “whacky and brutal” battle of dodgeball. Players can choose to play either online or solo.
According to Ubisoft, each match comes with customizable accessibility features, allowing players to adjust match length and difficulty.
The game also features multiple arenas, dozens of mini-games, and customizable avatars.
In 2020, a limited, four-player demo release of the game was released. Several gamers and YouTubers published videos showing previews of what the actual gameplay would look like.
Ubisoft has begun accepting preorders for Oddballers, which is currently priced at US$19.99.
