In a surprise announcement, CAPCOM and TiMi Studio (Call Of Duty Mobile, Pokemon Unite, Age Of Empires Mobile) has announced the latest addition to the renowned Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter: Outlanders.
This new mobile game, available soon on the Apple App Store and Google Play, aims to deliver an authentic Monster Hunter experience with open-world elements, character collection, gacha and multiplayer designed for mobile devices.
Building on the massive success of CAPCOM’s best-selling action-RPG, Monster Hunter: Outlanders is an open-world survival game set in expansive, natural environments teeming with the franchise’s formidable monsters. These include the notorious T-Rex Anjanath, the Iguana-like Great Jagras and the iconic Rathalos itself.
In its open-world setting, players can explore diverse natural regions rich with unique ecosystems and creatures. To survive the treacherous biomes, they will craft and build personalized gear and tools to enhance their hunting experience. Thrill-seekers can do this alone, but players who refuse to play as a lone hunter have the option to join forces with up to three other players in cooperative missions.
There is a growing discussion with the game’s approach to microtransactions. Monster Hunter: Outlanders may remain authentic to the franchise’s identity, but it is a gacha game. Collecting characters enables players to freely swap them on the battlefield. Pulling these characters requires in-game currencies and real money.
Crafting armor and weapons stays true to the original’s grindy concept, but there will be limitations. Stamina will be Outlander’s important resource. Similar to Genshin Impact’s Energy or Zenless Zone Zero’s Battery, players have limited Stamina per day and will recharge after every hour.
Apart from its gacha-based mechanics, as a live-service mobile game, Monster Hunter: Outlanders will feature regular world events and interactive community activities within its vast setting. There is still no road map shown yet as TiMi Studio is still hard at work polishing the game before its imminent Beta.
No official release date has been set yet, but the game is scheduled to undergo a series of play tests.
Fans can sign up on their official website, or connect with the development team and other players on Discord. The official website, along with social channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, will also provide updates and insights into Monster Hunter Outlanders.
