Following its Early Access debut in October 2023, Game developer Digital Cybercherries has officially launched the full 1.0 version of DON'T SCREAM, a horror game where the slightest whimper can mean game over.
Inspired by the 90s horror experience, most notably the Blair Witch Project, DON't SCREAM takes players to an eerie forest for up to 18 minutes. In it, there is a lingering strangeness in the air and fear will slowly creep in for players.
Using its in-game microphone calibration, DON’T SCREAM detects every noise from the player. It picks up everything from a minor squeak or a full scream. This prompts an instant reset, heightening the challenge.
With its full release, Digital Cybercherries was hard at work optimizing the game’s performance. This ensures smoother gameplay and improved visuals, further adding to the dread. The forest setting has also been expanded, adding new areas to explore as well as improving the appearance of existing locations.
Apart from its novel in-game microphone calibration, players can now face dangerous new enemies and environmental hazards that add to the game’s unpredictability.
These updates aim to make DON'T SCREAM more intense and engaging, particularly for players who experienced the Early Access version.
DON'T SCREAM attracted widespread attention when it launched on Steam’s Early Access a year ago. It sold over 100,000 copies in its first week, bolstered by its popularity in streaming communities.
Right now, it currently stands at a ‘Mixed’ Rating from the Steam store. Some players enjoyed its immersive atmosphere while others didn't find it scary enough.
DON'T SCREAM is available now on Steam. A perfect game to play this Halloween Season.
