CLICKOLDING, a story-driven horror game developed by independent game studio Strange Scaffold, is finally out. It offers a unique gaming experience that blends dark, first-person narrative with intriguing puzzles.
A launch trailer is available to watch here:
It is easy for someone to mistake CLICKOLDING's title for something else. The game tasks players with thumbing a tally counter at the whims of a potentially dangerous masked man. As he sits in the corner of the hotel room, players must solve environmental puzzles and unravel a disturbing story in an ever-shifting atmosphere.
CLICKOLDING tells a mature, narrative that can be finished in just one sitting. It's made by the creators of the upcoming PS5 game El Paso, Elsewhere. Knowing the studio's expertise, this is not an average videogame. Despite its short length, there are layers upon layers hidden inside its relentless ‘clicking.’
The game is accompanied by its jazz soundtrack composed by RJ Lake, known for his work on Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator and Unbeatable.
The reviews for the game are looking good. It has received over 300 ‘Very Positive’ scores on Steam. Some players praised CLICKOLDING's ‘unnerving, uncomfortable atmosphere’ throughout its short runtime. However, others also noted that the game's relentless clicking mechanic hurt their hands.
On whatoplay, no critic reviews have been recorded. CLICKOLDING currently has a gamerscore of 8.8 with 316 user reviews.
CLICKOLDING is funded in partnership with the indie publisher Outersloth,a publishing company founded by Among Us devs, Innersloth.
CLICKOLDING is now available on Steam for PC at $2.99.
