The award-winning game about Alzheimer's Disease, <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/back-then/">Back Then</a>, just arrived on PlayStation consoles.

Developer Octopus Embrace rolled out Back Then on PlayStation 5 consoles on November 6. The PS5 edition of the game currently has a price tag of US$14.99.

Back Then first debuted on PC in 2023. It is a first-person narrative adventure that explores Alzheimer's Disease.

The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/new/">new PS5 game</a> integrates Alzheimer-related themes into its gameplay. This means players get to experience the uncertainty. As well as fragmented recollection associated with the disease.

Back Then tells the story of Thomas Eilian, an elderly writer coping with the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

The game's design includes detective-style exploration and puzzles.

As players take on the shoes of Thomas, they need to explore his fragmented memories. At the same time, unravels his past through investigative exploration and puzzle-solving. They also get to unlock different areas and discover collectibles.

Octopus Embrace, a Portuguese indie studio, described the narrative experience as "unconventional." They said the game highly appeals to those who seek introspective, story-driven gaming.

“We all live with the fear of being devoured by dementia’s shadows of forgetting everything that brought us to this moment. This game seeks to ask — who are we when we forget who we are?” portions of the description read.

The development of Back Then was influenced by the team’s encounters with Alzheimer’s disease. Calebe Motta, co-founder and producer at Octopus Embrace, lost both his grandmother and grandfather to the disease.

"This release is especially meaningful to our team, and we hope it offers comfort to those affected by Alzheimer’s and their loved ones," said Motta.

During development, Octopus Embrace received multiple awards and recognition while developing Back Then. The game won the People’s Choice Award at IndieX 2019. It also received the Games 4 Good and Best Game titles at PlayStation Talents in January 2020.

The PlayStation Talents initiative was also instrumental in facilitating the game’s release on PS5.

Publisher Nippon Ichi Software on November 5 dropped a new trailer for The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II. The video, which ran up to four minutes, provided recaps of the previous game’s events.

It also teases a mysterious murder spree involving a "red beast." As well as introducing fans and players to new alliances and adversaries in the unfolding conflict within Calvard.

Trails through Daybreak II continues the story in the Republic of Calvard. Its residents have returned to a semblance of peace. The nation just barely recouped following years of turmoil from the mafia organization Almata. But a new wave of killings, attributed to a mysterious “red beast", threatens to disrupt that peace once again.

This new threat then stirs up suspicion and dread. As a result, various factions in Calvard sprang into action. From those who seek justice to those with more self-serving motives.

The story follows Van Arkride, a Spriggan, or a type of underground investigator. But then an unexpected visitor comes. Ultimately, propelling him to launch his own investigation, racing against time to uncover the truth.

A significant aspect of Trails Through Daybreak II is the inclusion of new and returning characters. Each has their own unique set of skills, backstories, and motivations. Players will also have the opportunity to explore these characters’ alliances and conflicts as they progress further.

Meanwhile, the new video trailer for The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II also revealed glimpses of its mechanics.

These included gameplay enhancements. Building upon the combat mechanics and exploration systems from the first Trails through Daybreak.

While no specifics were provided in the trailer, fans can expect an expanded skill set and more refined tactical options.

There's a new <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/eve-online/">EVE Online</a> game but fans of the 2003 MMORPG are apparently not happy with it.

On October 29, Iceland-based studio CCP Games rolled out <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/eve-galaxy-conquest/">EVE Galaxy Conquest</a>.

The newest title in the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=EVE%20Online">EVE universe</a> happened to be <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/free/strategy/">a free-to-play mobile strategy game</a> set. It features an X gameplay model—explore, expand, exploit, exterminate. This meant players would get to take command of iconic ships from one of the four powerful factions in the EVE universe.

Developers behind EVE Galaxy Conquest promised to deliver the kind of action from the original game. From large-scale, epic battles with thousands of players to combining tactical skill, diplomacy, and combat to claim ultimate victory.

But since its release, it has faced negative reviews, especially from fans.

ScreenRant reported that avid players of EVE Online hit CCP for 'not taking their time to make a good companion game for their IP (intellectual property).'

Others even went as calling it out as a 'cash-grab.' Redditors in the r/eve subReddit pointed out that its strategy gameplay was 'as deep as a puddle.' They also believed that generative artificial intelligence (AI) had been used for the game's illustration.

EVE Galaxy Conquest also fared poorly on Google Play. It received a rating of 2.9, from over 2,400 reviews, as of November 5, 2024. Aside from disappointed fans, gamers criticized the game for multiple performance issues.

In EVE Galaxy Conquest, players must defend their chosen empire. They also need to explore uncharted territories as well as expand their influence. Like true EVE Online fashion, they can do this through calculated diplomacy or fierce combat.

The game also has a competitive mode where players vie for top rankings and defend their titles against fresh rivals each season.

There's a new EVE Online game but fans of the 2003 MMORPG are apparently not happy with it.

EVE Galaxy Conquest is Out But…

The popular social gaming title <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/rec-room/">Rec Room</a> is set to welcome more players.
Beginning on November 6, Nintendo Switch owners can finally experience the 2016 game.

“We’ve dreamed about this moment for years and are honored to bring Rec Room to the Nintendo Switch,” said Nick Fajt, CEO of Rec Room. “Nintendo has played a big role in my lifelong love of video games and I’m excited to be able to bring the fun and creativity of Rec Room to their platform," he added.

The Switch expansion also made Rec Room the 'most cross-platform game to date.' Since its release, the game has been available on PCs, consoles, virtual reality (VR), and mobile platforms.

Aside from cross-platform gameplay, the Nintendo Switch version will have an integrated voice chat. This will allow players to coordinate with friends and navigate adventures in real-time.

Rec Room is a free-to-play, user-generated content (UGC) game. It's similar to the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/android/best/">highly-rated mobile game,</a> <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/roblox/">Roblox</a>. Known for its user-friendly no-code creation tools, Rec Room allows players to build their own worlds and games. These included escape rooms, racing challenges, and player-versus-player matches.

They can also publish them across all available platforms.
According to its creators, Rec Room has already amassed over 100 million lifetime users.

The King of Fighters AFK Finally Opens Pre-Registration

Another triple-A title is making its way to Apple Silicon Devices.

CD Projekt Red on October 31 confirmed that they will port <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/cyberpunk-2077/">Cyberpunk 2077</a> to Macs with Apple Silicon chips.

Michał Nowakowski, Joint Chief Executive Officer, also said Mac gamers can get their hands on the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/rpg/">critically acclaimed RPG</a> early next year.

"I’m incredibly excited that Mac gamers across the world will be able to discover the world and stories of Cyberpunk 2077 and <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/cyberpunk-2077-phantom-liberty/">Phantom Liberty</a> early next year," said Nowakowski.

It can be played on iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro.

Further details about Cyberpunk 2077's Macbook version are yet to be made public. But so far, the devs revealed that they will port the game's Ultimate Edition. Even more, CD Projekt Red, the acclaimed developers of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/">The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt</a>, said that Steam PC purchases can be carried over to Mac.

It's Confirmed: Cyberpunk 2077 is Coming Soon to MacOS

On October 29, publisher KOEI TECMO released <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vsI-SHZN7U">the game’s opening cinematic</a> on YouTube. For the first time, fans and eager players got a first look at the game's major story elements.

The cinematic showed some of the manga's iconic adversaries like Spriggan 12 and the Black Dragon Acnologia.
KOEI TECMO also unveiled more information about Fairy Tail 2.

The Japanese publisher also revealed an extended storyline titled “Key to the Unknown." It can be accessible after completing the main chapters.

Players will venture into new areas, joining familiar characters like Natsu and Lucy in various quests. These ranged from treasure hunts in hidden forests to competitions at Akane Beach.

Fairy Tail 2 Drops Opening Video, New Details

The highly anticipated Early Access launch of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/path-of-exile-2/">Path of Exile 2</a> has been postponed.

Instead of this November 15th, developers from Grinding Gear Games decided to push back its Early Access release to three weeks. As a result, fans and players of the hit action RPG will have to wait until December 6.

"Unfortunately we have some bad news. We have to delay Early Access for 3 weeks. The new date is the 6th of December," said game director Jonathan Rogers.

In a <a href="https://x.com/pathofexile/status/1851096646140166559?">video uploaded on Youtube</a>, Rogers said they needed more time to refine the servers of the game. In particular, ensuring that the integration of microtransactions between <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/path-of-exile/">Path of Exile 1</a> and Path of Exile 2 will work smoothly.

"We have to get everything perfect so that nobody loses anything they paid for, and nobody has their account broken," he said.

The dev team must also work on the same for the two games' console versions, he added.

"This meant changing a lot of things: not only do we have to create a bunch of new systems, we have to make sure that all the old data is backwards compatible with them as well. And when you start migrating databases that are this old and with this much data, you find all sorts of strange demons," explained Rogers.

While saddened that Path of Exile 2 will be delayed, the gaming community welcomed the devs' decision to have more time to polish the game.
"Think we all agree that a better product on launch is worth the wait," wrote X (formerly Twitter) user @Ghazzy Bodensjö.

X user @quinrex also shared the sentiment.

"100% worth the wait, I'm excited for the perfect launch with no mistakes," he said.

Path of Exile 2 is the sequel to the 2013 action <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/rpg/">RPG</a> title. Both are set in a dark fantasy world. 

The first game came out after a small team of developers became ‘frustrated by the lack of new releases in the genre’ at that time. 

Path of Exile was inspired by legendary titles in the RPG genre including Diablo, Titan Quest, and Dungeon Siege.

Path of Exile 2's Early Access Release Delayed

Fantastic news for fans of the award-winning horror game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/little-nightmares-ii/">Little Nightmares II.</a>

Beginning October 25, players can get their hands on physical copies of the Enhanced Edition of Little Nightmares II. Bandai Namco confirmed rolling out the game's remastered version to retail stores.

The Little Nightmares II Enhanced Edition features improved visuals. As well as a more atmospheric environment. It can support 4K resolutions, complete with ray-traced reflections, and detailed high-resolution textures. Players and fans can also expect a fully-surround audio system.

"The enhancements promise players a more chilling atmosphere, accentuating every detail in the dark, twisted world of Little Nightmares, whether they’re newcomers or long-time fans revisiting the story," Bandai said.

Little Nightmares II is the second installment in the Little Nightmares series. Released in 2021, the sequel - much like its predecessor - has captivated gamers worldwide. The horror-themed, puzzle platformer became both a commercial and critical success.

To date, it has sold more than 5 million copies. The game’s unique blend of suspense and exploration, combined with its signature art style, has made it a standout title.

The game is also getting a comic book adaptation. The limited, four-issue series titled Descent to Nowhere will also come out next year.

The mobile version of the critically acclaimed strategy game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/total-war-empire/">Total War: Empire</a> finally got a release date.

Publisher Feral Interactive revealed that Total War: Empire will launch on Android and iOS this November 21. It will carry a price tag of US $19.99.

Total War: Empire is one of the most ambitious entries in the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/discover/?search%5Bquery%5D=Total%20War">Total War franchise</a>. The fifth installment in the series, it first came out as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/empire-total-war/">Empire: Total War</a> on PC in 2009. It's one of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/single-player/">the best PC single-player games</a> of all time with a playscore of 8.8

The game blends large-scale empire management with tactical, real-time battles. Both on land and sea.

Players also got the chance to lead one of eleven historical factions. These included Britain, France, and Prussia as they navigate the complex political landscape of the time. At the same time, they must manage resources and strategically deploy forces to defend or expand their empires.

The game’s setting is inspired by a period of rapid scientific and technological advancement. It also introduces players to innovations that altered warfare. These included the early industry, artillery improvements, and gunpowder weaponry.

One of the highlights of Total War: Empire is its Grand Campaign. It challenges players to expand their influence across three continents: Europe, America, and India. As they forge alliances, manage resources, and build armies, they’ll also engage in real-time battles.

Naval combat also plays a critical role. This means players can command powerful fleets in real-time and use their dominance at sea to support military campaigns. As well as establish, defend trade routes, and secure their foothold in the Americas and other colonies.

In addition to the Grand Campaign, Total War: EMPIRE on mobile includes the “Road to Independence” episodic mini-campaign.

Road to Independence follows the American Revolution in a narrative-driven mode. Players can take control of key historical figures and lead their armies through critical moments of the revolution.

Meanwhile, a separate “Warpath” expansion, is slated for a post-release update as an in-app purchase, Feral added.
