<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/frostpunk-2/">Frostpunk 2</a>, the highly anticipated sequel to <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/frostpunk/">the hit city-building sim</a>, will be released at a later date.

Developers from 11 Bit Studios recently announced their decision to delay the launching of Frostpunk 2. Instead of this July 25th, the game will come out on September 20th - roughly two months later.

The move comes after the developer gathered player feedback during their recent beta test for the upcoming game.

Design Director Jakub Stokalski and Art Director Lukasz Juszczyk provided a full explanation behind their 'difficult but necessary' decision. In a joint statement published on Steam, they disclosed that they needed more time to fine-tune Frostpunk 2.

These include new gameplay mechanics, and a significant overhaul of the user interface and user experience (UI/UX). The additional time will also allow developers to insert additional features into the game. One of them was the highly-requested "Zoom Stories" city feature, which delves deeper into specific aspects of city life.

The beta test received generally positive comments, with an average 8 out of 10 rating from those who joined. But Stokalski and Juszczyk said it provided insights beyond just a positive score.

"The beta allowed us to see what resonated with players and what areas needed improvement," they said.

This focus on refinement, in turn, has led to the delay. It was a decision the developers acknowledged as difficult but necessary.

"We want to ensure the best possible experience for players on launch day," Stokalski and Juszczyk wrote. "To achieve that, we need a bit more time to polish the game. As such, we've made the tough call to postpone the release of Frostpunk 2 to September 20th, 2024," they added.

Poland-based 11 Bit Studios first revealed the development of Frostpunk 2 in August 2021. The upcoming game will land on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Frostpunk 2 Release Delayed Following Beta Test

Another beloved classic is getting a new makeover for modern gaming devices.

Publisher Microids announced that Little Big Adventure, the 1994 hit actin-adventure game, will have a remake. The France-based publisher has tapped developer [2.21] for the creation of the remake, titled <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/little-big-adventure-twinsens-quest/">Little Big Adventure - Twinsen's Quest</a>.

The new iteration of the classic arcade game will launch on PC and consoles. These include PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The release window has been set for <a href="strong">Fall 2024</a>

While Little Big Adventure was successfully ported to Android and iOS in 2014, it is unclear whether remake will be <a href="https://whatoplay.com/upcoming/android/">coming to mobile this year</a>.

In the meantime, fans and interested players can check out its teaser video to get a first look at the remake. The game, according to its creators, promises to recapture the original magic while introducing it to a new generation of gamers.

In Little Big Adventure - Twinsen's Quest, players will once again assume the role of Twinsen. While an ordinary citizen, he then tumbles upon a sinister plot by Dr. Funfrock. Funfrock has seized control of Twinsen, through cloning and teleportation technology. Labeled as a fugitive, Twinsen must embark on a perilous journey across the various islands of Twinsun. And he must unite with rebels to overthrow the oppressive regime.

90s Adventure Game Little Big Adventure Gets Remake

One of the highly anticipated story-driven titles set in an alternate Philippines just came out.

Publisher Maximum Entertainment announced the release of its latest coming-of-age game <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/until-then/">Until Then</a>. The narrative-adventure game welcomed players on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 last June 24th.

Until Then is created by an <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/indie/">indie</a> Filipino studio Polychroma Games. 

Set in a fictionalized version of the Philippines, it follows a male teenager named Mark Borja. Players guide Mark as he navigates the familiar challenges of school life, piano practice, and friendships. However, a twist of fate awaits him that will forever alter his world.

Until Then utilizes side-scrolling mechanics. The story is portrayed in a cinematic adventure style. Its narrative revolves around a group of curious high school students who are grappling with their own realities.

But one of the highlights of the newly released game was its Filipino touch. Until Then offers players explore and navigate a world inspired by real-world locations in the Philippines.

Development of Until Then was first unveiled last February. It is the second major title by Polychroma Games, an independent game development studio based in the Philippines. In a statement, developers from Polychroma thanked fans and players for the support.

As of June 26th, Until Then received generally positive feedback from gamers and critics alike. Eurogamer rated it 4 out of 5 stars.

"While the setting and inspirations are Filipino through and through, the themes of friendship, love, loss, and acceptance in this visual novel are universal," Jason Rodriguez wrote.

Filipino-Inspired Adventure Game "Until Then" Launches on PC, PS5

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/frogue/">FROGUE</a>, the genre-bending indie game, is getting ported to consoles.

The game's creators, Wired Dreams, announced that it will release FROGUE next-gen consoles this June 27th. It can be accessed on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

This FROGUE port comes four months after it made its debut on PC devices last February. It is a platformer that contains not only roguelite and bullet-hell elements. But also <a href="https://whatoplay.com/xbox-series-x/best/turn-based-strategy/">turn-based strategy</a> and time manipulation mechanics.

It puts players in control of Kene Legstrong, a valiant frog warrior on a mission to break a century-old curse.

The gameplay involves a mix of turn-based combat, bullet hell intensity, and platforming challenges. Players can unleash a variety of attacks, and strategically hurl weapons at enemies.

They can also even manipulate time to gain an edge. Kene's unique ability to cling to walls adds a 3D layer to the gameplay. By doing so, players open up more creative solutions and strategic approaches to overcoming each obstacle.

The game promised to offer high replayability through procedurally generated scenarios. This, in turn, challenges players to conquer ever-changing environments.

Since its release, FROGUE has received positive feedback from several PC players.

"An absolute breath of fresh air in the genre," Steam user bmschulz wrote. He added describing the game as one of the most interesting stylistic mish-mashes.

Steam user Dilly shared the same opinion.

"It feels really good to slash 2 enemies after carefully planning your movement," he said in the game's review section.

FROGUE is the fifth title from solo developer Thiago Oliveira, the one-man team behind Wired Dreams studio, which is based in Brazil. The game has tapped QuByte Interactive, Latin America's largest publisher of indie games, as its publisher.

In addition, developers will later introduce players to Anora's partner, Ymrit, who can fly. When fighting together, both can generate Bond Skills. This means Anora can summon even stronger minions, and Ymrit transforms into a Dragon Egg when receiving fatal damage.

Players can unlock Anora through Argent Summoning from June 27th to July 1st. Her powerful partner, Ymiret, will be obtainable via Ancient Summoning during the same period.

In addition, developers announced the return of two legendary heroes, and players can get them for free. They can obtain Helga and Myca through participation in special in-game events.

Aside from new playable characters, fresh challenges also await players in Watcher of Realms' first-anniversary event. A new boss, Semrah, will put their strategy skills to the test. A limited-time game mode will also arrive.

Called The Eternal Spire, all heroes are balanced to the same level and status, without any equipment and artifacts. So, players must strategically select missions from a list. They need to also complete them with speed to secure the highest scores and claim lucrative rewards.

Furthermore, Moonton is showering players with rare rewards during the 1st Anniversary Celebration.

A total of 34 Summon Crystals can be acquired through daily logins and special anniversary quests. Five new skins are also up for grabs. Moonton's Watcher of Realms Marks 1st Anniversary

505 Games and developer ION LANDS recently confirmed that the launching date for Nivalis has been pushed back. Instead of this year, the cyberpunk slice-of-life will roll out in Spring 2025.

The reason for the delay, however, was not yet revealed. But the developing team promised to provide excited players 'the best possible experience'.

"ION LANDS' highest priority is to ensure that 'Nivalis' provides the best possible experience for the player," they said in a press release.

"Your patience and support are invaluable as we navigate through this creative journey. Thank you for your understanding and continued encouragement," they added.

In the meantime, its publisher dropped a new trailer to showcase the progress creators made so far. Released alongside the announcement, it showcases never-before-seen locations. These included the option for train travel. Developers even dropped hints about the story through the introduction of Ava, one of the game's main characters.

Nivalis marks a return to the neon-lit cyberpunk city first found in ION LANDS' Cloudpunk. The upcoming game blends cyberpunk and restaurant management elements. The game ditches the linear narrative for open-world exploration and business building.

This time, Nivalis promises to take players to carve their path in a dynamic sandbox experience. Starting with a humble establishment like a noodle stand or nightclub.

The game also offers a large, open world with 19 explorable areas. Players will have the freedom to explore the city on foot, by boat, or by taking trains or taxis. These rides function as cutscenes initially but later allow for fast travel.

While the full graphics options haven't been revealed yet, more details will be available closer to launch. In addition, developers hinted at considering the possibility of adding pets to the game based on player feedback.

The game first came out on iOS and Android devices in March 2023.

In it, players take on the responsibility of caring for rescued cats. It puts them in the shoes of a new caretaker for a charming but rundown house - once home to a beloved cat lady.

Following in her footsteps, they will welcome stray cats, showering them with love, food, and playtime until they find their forever homes. But managing feline friends requires a well-maintained space. Players also need to clean, decorate, and even prepare a treatment room for checkups with a friendly vet.

Cat Rescue Story is Coming to Consoles

Fantastic news for Nintendo Switch owners who want to experience the sequel to one of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/rpg/">the best PC RPGs</a>.

Red Hook Studios, creators of the acclaimed Darkest Dungeon series, announced that they will also port <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/darkest-dungeon-ii/">Darkest Dungeon II</a> to Nintendo Switch. The Switch version will launch together with the release of its PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 editions. 

This means all console versions of the game will come out this July 15th.

"We're thrilled to bring Darkest Dungeon II to the Nintendo Switch," said Tyler Sigman, Design Director for Red Hook Studios. "The Switch's unique capabilities perfectly complement the immersive journey through the darkest reaches of our world," he added.

The <a href="https://whatoplay.com/switch/upcoming/">upcoming Switch game</a> will be available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop at a discounted price of US $39.99. This release will also contain all updates of the PC version, including its DLC The Binding Blade.

In the meantime, Switch players can choose to purchase the base game or Nintendo eShop-exclusive bundles. These included the "Oblivion Bundle" which contains both the base game and the DLC. This expansion also adds two new playable heroes, The Duelist, and The Crusader, as well as the roaming mini-boss, The Warlord.

Meanwhile, Red Hook announced that a free content update for Darkest Dungeon II will arrive soon. Called the "Kingdoms", it will be a campaign mode. It will challenge players in a race against time to locate and vanquish a monstrous threat before it consumes the entire Kingdom.

The Kingdom update is expected to come out anytime this year.

Darkest Dungeon II was first released on PC in 2021 via Early Access. It features a new rogue-lite structure and 3D visuals that maintain the series' distinctive style. Developers released its full version in 2023, roughly two years later.

Based on its latest trailer, the upcoming horror title will feature a first-person perspective. It throws players into the shoes of a young woman navigating a post-apocalyptic world. While surviving the harsh reality, she also has to face her own struggles.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will serve as the first game adaptation of the 2018 movie. The single-player game is currently being developed by Italian indie studio Stormind Games. It also features a semi-open world that allows players to explore the remnants of a shattered civilization.

The new mobile game under the hit Avatar franchise finally has a title and a story.

Creators from Tilting Point and AN Games on June 14th unveiled the game's title as <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/avatar-realms-collide/">Avatar Legends: Realms Collide</a>. They also dropped the game's first, full-length trailer. It revealed the game's backstory and gameplay mechanics.

In it, legendary heroes like Aang, Zuko, Toph, and Katara reunite to fight Father Glowworm, a malevolent spirit bent on disrupting peace. First introduced in the novel The Rise of Kyoshi, this dark entity will be the pivotal antagonist in the upcoming mobile game.

Due to his influence, Father Glowworm has also formed a dangerous cult that will not hesitate to do his bidding. The players' mission then is to save the world from Father Glowworm's influence.

The trailer also provided fans and interested players a first look at Father Glowworm's character design.

Meanwhile, Publisher Tilting Point has also opened pre-orders for Avatar Legends: Realms Collide.

Beginning June 14th, players can pre-order the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/upcoming/">upcoming iOS game</a> (for iPhone) or pre-register on Google Play (for Android). Additionally, pre-ordering or pre-registering secures can grant players exclusive in-game rewards. These rewards included resources, and items to accelerate gameplay.

Players also have the opportunity to get a shard exchangeable for a Legendary Hero.

Avatar Legends: Realms Collide is a 4X <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ios/best/strategy/">strategy</a> game set in the iconic world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It is being developed by AN Games. Tim Hedrick, the writer behind the mega-hit Nickelodeon TV series, served as its lead scriptwriter.

The game brings together iconic characters from across the beloved franchise. These included the cast from the original series, The Legend of Korra, and from the comics and novels.

Avatar Legends: Realms Collide will be released this year.
