I definitely had fun with Onimusha: Warlords, despite many of its mechanics and visuals aging poorly since 2001. A lot of my enjoyment comes from revisiting an old favorite, but there's not enough new stuff here to recommend this to someone new to the series. The save system, terrible animations, and unskippable cutscenes just don't work in the modern era.

Onimusha: Warlords was a trendsetter, having laid the foundation for many modern action games. This remaster breathes new life into this classic, making it the best, and most accessible, version available. Wipe the dust off that Ogre Gauntlet — it’s time to slay some demons.

Capcom could have done more with Onimusha: Warlords, but they didn't screw it up (at least on PS4) and that's all they really needed to do. Given that I still play the original from time to time, I'd say I'm more than happy with a nip and a tuck here and there. Now we just need the full trilogy.
