This is my personal review of Asterigos: Curse of the Stars after playing about 60 hours of the game and completing the main storyline in the hardest difficulty while simultaneously doing a [no-damage-boss-fights challenge run](https://youtu.be/aIz2nG5Fzqs).

**Steam Price:**

*   Php 1,099.00 (Base)

*   Php 1,399.00 (Deluxe Edition)

*   Php 1,649.00 (Ultimate Edition)

**Genre:** Indie, Souls-like, RPG

What's good?

* Despite being in souls-like genre, this game has a difficulty slider. An appreciated feature for those who are new to the genre and want to try it first without experiencing the trauma from difficulty (Thank you, Dark Souls!).

* Visuals is fantastic. Love the match-up of Pixar-looking graphics and the greek-mythology artstyle. Movements are flashy when they need to be and the game did not abuse particle effects, unlike other Triple-A games. I did not experience any visual issues the entire game.

* Soundtrack is also really good. It's so good that in some boss fight, I had to turn down the background music because it was hyping me too much and I couldn't focus on my challenge run.

* Storytelling is good and the game is rich in lore. They made an effort to really dig into the details of the main NPCs in the game in a way that their own side-quests reveal details about them.

* World-building is great. Lots of areas to explore and things to uncover. Each biome is unique on its own and at the same time coherent with one another (meaning you can go from one area to another without needing to fast travel) and it almost feels like open-world. Enemies did not feel repetitive at all. And there's very minimal boss-now-normal-mobs-later issue.

What's bad?

* After-input delays - my biggest gripe in this game. The developers implemented so much delay in between every action that combat can oftentimes feel clunky and slow. You're using potions and you want to dodge an incoming attack? Delay. You want to double-dodge? Delay. You dodged and now you want to aim your ranged weapon? Guess what, delay! And it probably didn't help that I came from just finishing Wo Long (which is a fast souls-like) before this game.

* The hardest difficulty is way too easy. I feel like they needed to implement a higher-difficulty option for more seasoned players. "Challenge" difficulty was not much of a challenge at all.

* You have to replay the game to complete the achievements. I just hate when developers do this. Not everyone has all the time in the world to replay the game so IMHO achievements should be achievable on your first playthrough. Leave it up to the players if they want to do an NG+ run.

TL;DR

**Do I recommend the game?** Yes! It's one of those underrated indie games. Games like these are like gems of our lifetime - very hard to find.

**Is the game worth the full price?** Yes! Support good small indie devs, please.

P.S. (Shameless Plug) - I have a [small youtube channel](https://youtube.com/@shieldstick) where I post gameplay and challenge videos like fighting game bosses in the hardest difficulty without taking any damage. I would appreciate it if you guys can support me there as well by liking and subscribing. :ok\_hand:
