The London Case occupies a strange sort of middle ground — it wants to facilitate player freedom, while at the same time telling a focused point-and-click story with little room for deviation. Perhaps it would have functioned better as a more pure narrative experience – a visual novel, for instance. It certainly would have been easier to avoid the technical hiccups in that case!
bretoncampbell · Dec 13, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewAgain, this is a sequel in a series that I haven’t played so this may be an improvement I don’t know, what I do know is that for someone who enjoys mystery, adventure games The London Case shall remain unsolved for this fledgling detective.
Terrence Johnson · Oct 13, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full reviewPlaying through Hercule Poirot: The London Case can be a reasonably pleasurable experience for fans of Christie's works, as the writers at Blazing Griffin carry the torch with respect. For every area where the game succeeds, however, it features an awkward limitation or stumbling block to match. Not every mystery game can be Return of the Obra Dinn or Screen Rant's 2022 GOTY Pentiment, but it's a bit of a shame that the deductive experience of Nancy Drew titles outdoes the Belgian detective's own process. Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The London Case is another gesture at what a great Poirot game could look like that ultimately misses the mark.
BEN BROSOFSKY · Sep 13, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewAgatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case is an engrossing mystery brought to life by realistic graphics, well-executed music, and stellar voice acting.
Erik Parkin · Sep 07, 2023 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|S, PS4, XB1, SwitchRead full reviewHercule Poirot: The London Case delivers on its promise of a new Agatha Christie-style story in the Poirot universe. While it doesn’t have the same level of tricksy, interweaving motives and relationships as Poirot favourites, the story is entirely entertaining nonetheless. However, the game lacks polish to the extent that it’s distracting, progress is not always logical and the loading times on Switch are a real problem. For all its charm, you don’t have to be a world-class detective to see its flaws.
Roland Ingram · Sep 04, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full reviewIt’s a well-crafted game for what it wants to be, but given how short it is and how lackluster it presents itself, we’d feel snubbed if this was what we’d been waiting for for this long. However, as an appetizer for Murder on the Orient Express, The London Case feels more than serviceable. The gameplay is as accessible as ever, even if it feels a bit too traditional at times, but the engrossing story and streamlined pace of the gameplay make The London Case a great “in-between” game.
SebastiaanRaats · Sep 03, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewAgatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case is largely mediocre. Even though the story and its mystery are much better this time around, its pacing might turn off some players before they finally get to the interesting parts. It also suffers from poor controls and lots of needless filler. Honestly, it might have been an alright game if it worked well and was trimmed down a bit, but as it stands, I wouldn’t waste your little gray cells on this one.
Heidi Hawes · Aug 29, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full reviewAgatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The London Case is a fun addition to the murder mystery genre and plays true to the source material with plenty of parlour room scenes that the player helps create. The gameplay is varied, with many interesting choices that add to the immersion. Linking clues and finding physical evidence are all done well and interact with each other in a way that proves the attention that went into these elements of the game. While some of the graphics are a little odd, the overall finish of Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The London Case is very impressive, and Poirot’s quips make for an amusing experience.
MariDead · Aug 29, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full reviewAgatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case starts as a slow burn but, through the methodical observations of its titular detective, devolves into a satisfying ending. Avid readers of the Hercule Poirot series are bound to find a pleasant mystery to solve here. To be on the shoes of the detective and sniff out clues in scenes of the crime will satisfy the most eager of fans.
AndresPlays · Aug 29, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full reviewWeaving an intriguing tale that’s filled with twists and turns, we’ve enjoyed spending some time in Poirot’s shoes and solving the mystery of The London Case. This is a budget title and it shows, but there’s still a lot to like, especially if you’re a fan of traditional point and click adventures. It’s a bit of a journey back in time in that regard, but it’s a valuable addition to the genre nonetheless.
