To seasoned vets, it's a bunch of info that ranges from crucial to "get that off the screen." It's not the game's fault that piloting a 30-million-dollar death machine is complicated, and the dead-on controls make success easy for those in the know, but everyone else will need to spend some serious time acclimating themselves to the world of ace fighter pilots.
Brett Elston · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full reviewWith a stunning single-player campaign, a wealth of capable online multiplayer facilities and the provisions of raw power the 360 offers, Ace Combat finally feels like it has become what it has always strived to be. It may well be more of the same, and it is certainly an acquired taste, but if dancing with angels and unleashing hell is to your liking, Ace Combat 6 might be the answer to your prayers.

Total Xbox · Nov 07, 2007 Reviewed on X360Ace Combat 6 should have no problem pleasing fans with its next-generation visuals and proven blend of the realistic and the just plain awesome. The game is accessible enough to be picked up by someone who hasn’t yet earned their wings, and while the online mode isn’t incredibly deep, it’s a solid addition that makes the game that much more attractive. If jets aren’t your thing, though, it won’t convince you to enroll in flight school.
Game Trailers · Nov 05, 2007 Reviewed on X360Aside from online play, Ace Combat 6 doesn't break any real new ground for the series. In fact, some cool past features, such as AC5's radioed yes/no questions, are nowhere to be found. Yet Ace Combat 6 makes up for it by providing the most immersive experience yet in an arcade flight combat game, thanks to smooth, gorgeous visuals and polished gameplay.
Kevin VanOrd · Oct 23, 2007 Reviewed on X360Read full reviewHands down, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation is the best console flight simulator to date. This may not have been a hard achievement, but it is nice to say that there is finally an aerial combat game worth racing to the store to pick up. If you are new to the genre, this may be a bit too much for you to begin with. Having said that, if this doesn't grip you then you may never travel the highway into the danger zone.
Matt Walker · Oct 23, 2007 Reviewed on X360Read full reviewAce Combat 6 isn't a perfect game. A lot about the presentation feels dated, the dialogue is drab, and though the sound effects are done well, the constant beeping that warns of incoming missiles is a bit much. But what Ace Combat 6 does well, it nails. The realistic visual design married with the arcade controls make for a game that anyone can have fun with. This is the closest to the imaginary dream of being in Top Gun that most of us are ever going to get.
Erik Brudvig · Oct 19, 2007 Reviewed on X360Read full reviewAce Combat 6 still can't quite mark itself out as an essential game; it's certainly true that the series is moving forward again, and we're delighted to see it, but this is evolution rather than revolution. Those who weren't enamoured with it in the first place will find nothing to change their minds in Ace Combat 6, and that's fine in its own way; a series update that delights the fans is no bad thing.

About the game
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation takes air combat warfare to new heights as it boasts the new "Dynamic Operation System" where massive battles unfold on a "living battlefield," as up to six independent land, sea or air conflicts can break out at any time at multiple locations as allies and enemies clash in real-time. Players can experience the realism of war when battlefields come alive with engagingly authentic audio and visual effects: thundering explosions, dense vapor trails of air to air missiles, piercing machine gun fire, booming anti-aircraft artillery fire, mid-air explosions, gigantic columns of black smoke and more.
