The “one more go” Trials formula that we all know and love is back, and it’s back at its absolute finest. Rising is the deepest, lengthiest, and most enthralling entry in the series to date. Everything from its refined trademark difficulty and its addictive physics-based play, right up to its epic track design and its truly sensational camerawork, is nothing short of outstanding. That being said, RedLynx really needs to address its screen tearing, and fast.
Trials Rising is a brilliant return to the Trials franchise. I honestly can’t find too much to really be critical of here. The load times can be a bit long and the extra customization options can provide idiots with the tools to create inappropriate content. There are some visual issues, like background characters and the occasional issue with the riders ragdoll effects – such as getting stuck in an object or the ground.
Trials Rising offers some of the coolest levels in the series to date, and its new tutorial system does a better job of teaching you how to actually execute its hardest techniques than any game before it. That wide variety of tracks is unfortunately bogged down by the frustrating grind it takes to unlock them all and some strange decisions that lead to a more discouraging experience, but it’s still satisfying to get back on the bike and try for better medals if you can make it to the finish line.
