Fans of fellow Vita visual novels like Zero Escape and Danganronpa should make this a priority. They might miss the heavier emphasis on gameplay in those titles, but on the other hand, there are no distractions from the rich narrative. Time travel is very hard to do right in fiction, and Steins;Gate is an exemplary instance of this intriguing concept given the attention and care it deserves.
Steins;Gate is one of the best games I have played on the PlayStation Vita. A tale of time-travelling teens, you will find that there is a lot more depth to this game than meets the eye. The lack of 'gameplay' will put some people off, but if you are a fan of Visual Novels or love a good story, then Steins;Gate is a game you need to play! El Psy Kongroo!
In large part, I enjoyed Steins;Gate. Its first half is smartly told, its characters are genuinely likable, and I enjoyed learning about science in humorous ways. I just wish that the dating elements had been more smoothly incorporated into the established narrative and not forced on the player. Sometimes, it’s enough to just be friends.
