However, their peaceful life ended when Nebiros and his armies appeared. Long time ago, during the war of the gods when the world was created, Nebiros was defeated by the gods of the sun and moon. Dragon Blaze is Psikyo on top of its TATE shmup game. You might be a little disappointed that this strays so very close to bullet hell shmups instead of the more traditional games it made its name famous in this industry. However, 18 years on, the game remains a beautifully executed TATE shmup with a unique gameplay gimmick that goes beyond having the titular dragons as eye candy, effectively making them a core part of the high score chasing experience.

Overall, Dragon Blaze offers classic arcade shooting with plenty of action and a high level of difficulty to test even the most adept players. The dragon aspect adds a new spin on the genre, and, despite the short play time, there’s plenty of score chasing to do if you’re looking to scratch that shooter itch. Check it out.

Dragon Blaze stands tall as one of the best shumps the Nintendo Switch currently has to offer, even eighteen years after its arcade release.
