Kill la Kill IF is clearly designed for fans of Kill la Kill who are looking for more ways to enjoy the characters, music, and battles of the anime series. Each fighter behaves as they do in the anime, and the excellent voice actor rewards provide a nice incentive to keep playing even after you've mastered every character. However, as a fighting game, Kill la Kill IF doesn't deliver the expected harmony of offense and defense.
This colorful burst of anime goodness may not be flawless, but it's exemplary for the genre, and another of Arc System Works' great efforts. It's quite short and a bit on the shallow end, but when it comes to presentation and sticking close by to the anime, few titles have done it better. For newcomers, it's best to watch the series first, but for Kill la Kill faithful and Trigger enthusiasts, it's a great weekend rental or purchase.
Still, KILL la KILL The Game: IF is Satsuki’s and Ryuko’s show, make no mistake about it. You really should ask yourself how keen you are to see half-naked anime girls engage in a furious, energetic and fast-paced fight where candid shots aren’t spared. Well, that did sound like a sales pitch. As for me, I went out and bought the manga volumes to complement the game!
