Black Ops 4’s multiplayer lets players be more tactical without sacrificing the excitement of engagements. The reworked health system and Specialists offer great, mostly balanced tools that allow for more creative playstyles and cater to strategic teams and lone wolves alike. Just about every weapon class in Black Ops 4's arsenal feels like a viable option, too, though automatic weapons are expectedly as popular as they have been in the past.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is fantastic, plain and simple. The concerns over the game not being worth it due to a lack of a single-player campaign seem overblown, when compared to how much effort was put into improving the online modes. This easily feels like one of the most content-filled Call of Duty entries and I can absolutely recommend picking this up, even if you’re a since-jaded fan of the first-person shooter series.
It’s a blessing and a curse. Squatting at the heart of the game, it’s sucked up my beloved campaign and scrambled the series’ spirit, but it's by far the biggest draw. After the woolly-brained fever of Zombies and the turbulence of the multiplayer modes, I was drawn to Blackout's comparative calm. But it's tough to shake the sense of a victory achieved in nuclear fashion.
