A whopping cash prize of $15,000 is up for grabs for Zero Latency's upcoming virtual reality (VR) tournament.
Zero Latency, the tech firm known for developing free-roam VR systems, has partnered with VIVE for Champions of the Undead. The tournament pits players worldwide against hordes of undead in Undead Arena, one of Zero Latency's most popular games.
The organizers said Champions of the Undead will run from August 10 to September 6. The Grand Final will be in Las Vegas, where a custom-made version of Undead Arena awaits the top scorers from each region. There, they will battle for the crown of Champion of the Undead and a cash prize of US$15,000.
Champions of the Undead marked Zero Latency's milestone of reaching three million plays since 2015.
We are very excited to launch this competition and give back to our loyal players who have supported us over the years,
said Zero Latency CEO Tim Ruse.
Ruse added that Champions of the Undead will be the Australian company's first foray into worldwide VR tournaments.
We have seen a huge demand for VR experiences that allow people to connect with others and have fun together,
he said.
According to Zero Latency, players who want to join the tournament must only play and earn high scores in Undead Arena at Zero Latency venues. They can play solo or in a co-op of up to seven players.
While the tournament will only select the top scorers for each region for the final round, runner-ups will not leave empty-handed. They will be able to receive a VIVE XR Elite headset, which costs US$1,099, Zero Latency said.
