Funktronic Labs, an independent game developer, has announced that its popular action game Wave Break will be coming to Xbox consoles this month.
In a press release, the California-based game studio said Wave Break will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices starting on December 21, 2023.
The 3D action-adventure game will cost US$ $19.99. But for a limited time, Funktronic Labs will offer a 15 percent discount during its launch.
Wave Break, dubbed the first SkateBoating game, was released in 2020. At the time, only PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia users had access to the Miami Vice-inspired game. But instead of cars and people, players take control of animals cruising, chasing, and racing through 1980s Miami on boats.
From tropical beaches to frozen tundras, ride the waves and score the world's biggest combo with style,
developers described.
The game supports multiple modes, from single-player campaigns to online multiplayer. It also includes one that lets gamers build and customize their world called Park Creator.
(In Park Creator, players can) create and edit (the park of their dreams) online with friends, or do it solo for super-focus,
developers added.
Upon its release, Wave Break garnered mixed and positive reviews from critics and gamers alike. It got an aggregate user rating of 8.8.
Wave Break also received several accolades and recognitions. These included Indie Playground Best Humor award during the Dramhack Dallas 2019.
It was also chosen by several award-giving groups in the gaming industry, such as the Game Developers Conference - Indie Megabooth (2020 and 2019), Media Indie Exchange (The MIX) Game Dev Direct (2021), Kinda Funny Games - E3 Showcase (2019), IndieCade - E3 (2019), and PAX West - IMB (2019), to name a few.
