The anticipated indie title, SCHiM, has officially launched on all major platforms, including PC via, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.
To mark the release, the development team has unveiled a new trailer featuring a charming stop-motion intro, an uplifting soundtrack by Moonsailor, and glowing praise from early reviewers.
SCHiM is a captivating indie game that revolves around a lost shadow seeking to reunite with its human counterpart. Players must find creative ways to traverse the world as they navigate through the shadows. Eventually they uncover small stories and charming details along the way.
In the game, a schim represents the soul and spirit of an object or living being, and it must never be separated. Players must help the shadow find its way back to its human before it's too late.
Movement is restricted to shadows, requiring players to leap into the shadows of animated objects and moving beings to create pathways. Each level's color palette changes to reflect the setting, time of day, and mood, offering a visually captivating experience.
SCHiM’s other selling point lies in its gorgeous art style. Inspired by real Dutch and European cities and rural locations, each level is filled with a living scenery. There are numerous hidden items scattered throughout SCHiM, encouraging exploration. Players can also aid other schims restore their connection to their respective objects.
Fans can purchase a physical copy of the game as well. Iam8bit’s Physical edition shows the striking architectural Dutch world of the game, zoomed out to let you discover all the minute details. It will be available for Nintendo Switch & PS5 as of 25 October 2024, preorders are open now.
The PLAYISM version, however, depicts the playful, bizarre and cute world of SCHiM.
