Creators from WayForward, Limited Run Games, and NIGORO revealed their plans to roll out The Rose & Camellia on Switch. The game will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop on April 16.

This is also the first time for The Rose & Camellia to be played on a dedicated gaming console, publishers said. In addition, they are set to introduce a Switch-exclusive collection of the gaming series.

The Rose & Camellia Collection will contain five titles. This includes The Rose & Camellia, Rose & Camellia 2, and the crossover title Rose & Camellia vs. La-Mulana. The bundle will also have the brand new entries to the series, Rose & Camellia 3 and Rose & Camellia 4.

In the meantime, WayForward promised to remaster The Rose & Camellia for Nintendo Switch devices. This means Switch players can expect visual upgrades, with crisp HD graphics, upon its release.

The collection also features full English voiceovers and a 'stylish, anime-style opening sequence.' It will also have two brand new vocal theme songs by gaming music favorite Cristina "Vee" Valenzuela.

The Rose & Camellia first came out in 2000. The game's lore centers around a wealthy Japanese family, the Tsubakikoji. After their patriarch passed away, a high-society, inheritance battle ensues.

Instead of the legal and more civilized routes, players find themselves in hilarious, conflicts. From petty squabbles to outrageous slap fights. The core gameplay involved reflex-based, one-on-one slap battles. And the goal is to become the heiress standing through a series of hilarious slap-down matches.

Meanwhile, players can get their hands on physical copies of The Rose & Camellia Collection. They come in two versions - the Standard Edition and The Deluxe Edition.

The Standard Edition includes the game cartridge featuring all five titles, and a full-color booklet. The Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, will have exclusive game merchandise. These included art cards, a double-sided poster, and an acrylic stand. Pre-orders for both editions open on April 12th, 2024, and run through May 12th.

WayForward is the same developer behind the Shantae platforming games on the Switch. With a playscore of 8.4, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Ultimate Edition is currently among the best Switch games. / ###
