Here's some interesting news for fans and players of the open-world survival horror Once Human.
Starry Studio announced that the game became a commercial success just days after its debut. On top of this, they also teased the public about a possible major update coming soon.
The NetEase subsidiary revealed that the game has already reached 230,000 concurrent players. In addition, it landed in several coveted lists on Steam. Once Human made it on the top five most played games on Steam during its first week. It also secured on the platform's top 10 best-selling titles.
Additionally, Once Human has soared to the fifth spot on the global peak online chart for new Steam releases in 2024.
The game's success was attributed to its unique blend of a "new weird" art style and engaging survival mechanics.
In celebration of this new milestone, Starry Studio also unveiled ongoing development for new updates. Developers, in a press release, confirmed that players can expect two new modes for Once Human. This included a player-versus-player (PvP) scenario. It will feature clashes between the game's central factions, the Mayflies and Rosetta.
Alongside the PvP, a new player-versus-environment (PvE) scenario is also in the works. This PvE experience will take players to a previously unexplored northern mountain region. It will also introduce new monsters and thrilling challenges.
The new content update is expected to roll out this September. The exact release date has yet to be revealed.
Once Human first came on July 9, 2024. The game received generally positive feedback upon its release.
It is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by Stardust-infested creatures. Players then take control of a Meta-Human immune to the contagion. In order to survive, they must battle monstrous foes, and scavenge for resources. The game also allows them to build their own sanctuary.

Once Human will also be releasing on iOS in September. A separate release for Android devices has also been announced. However, no exact release date has been confirmed.
