The multiplayer open-world survival game from Starry Studio, Once Human, announced their Closed Beta Test (CBT). Starting April 3, players had the chance to experience new gameplay from the CBT.
The Closed Beta introduces a handful of new features. These include the new ‘Deviation’ companions.
These are SCP-style monsters with detailed designs. They can fight and heal, among other supporting abilities. These otherworldly friends will serve as allies against the supernatural.
Deviations can also aid outside of battle. Companions can assist in constructing and maintaining player homes. From cutting down trees and generating power, to guarding the territory from enemies. It's similar to Pals in Palworld.
Once Human’s latest Closed Beta also introduces Eternaland. It is new realm that acts as a safe haven from monsters. It is a place of peace and prosperity existing outside the bounds of the nightmare world. Players, or Meta-Humans, can visit Eternaland and make a new life for themselves.
This new region encourages community. It has cross-server functionality that lets players invite friends to hang out and host parties. They can also take part in friendly competitions such as racing.
The CBT also includes a handful of new content for PvP and PvE as well. PvE is taking a major focus as players must team up to face massive Manibus enemies.
The PvP season includes two new modes: Caravan Battle and Cargo Conquest.
In Caravan Battle, a team of players defend a caravan full of loot as they travel across the countryside and salvage other vehicles along the way.
In Cargo Conquest, players possess parasites that force them to attack other players. However, there’s a chance that killing an infected player will cause the parasite to move to a new host.
Once Human’s Closed Beta Test is still ongoing. It will last for 42 days beginning from its launch on April 3rd. It is one of the most anticipated videogames of 2024 with over 9 million registered users so far.
