MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons has started welcoming players as it launches its Early Access mode.
Developer Polyscape Inc. released MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons in Early Access on April 24. Players can download the roguelike action game on Steam. MISTROGUE is the first major project for Polyscape Inc., an indie gaming studio based in Japan.
According to Polyscape Inc., MISTROGUE is designed to have a different take on the dungeon-crawling genre.
The action roguelike game lets players take control of a treasure hunter named Mist. As Mist, they will explore and ultimately survive a world with "living dungeons." Developers explained that players need to rely not only on their skills but also on their ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment.
The key to survival will be your adaptability to ever-changing situations... Players must not let their guard down,
wrote Polyscape Inc. The "living dungeons" in the game are characterized to respond to the players' actions. They may encounter bridges suddenly collapsing and floors moving in different directions. They can also get surprise visits from enemies, the developers added.
The 'living dungeons' will respond to Mist's actions and generate gimmicks and obstacles in real-time,
Polyscape Inc. said.
Like all dungeon-crawling titles, MISTROGUE has its share of monsters. Players will also have to face them as they try to grapple with their surroundings coming to life.
Polyscape Inc. first revealed the development of MISTROGUE: Mist and the Living Dungeons to the public in August 2022. A few months later, they conducted Pre-Alpha Tests. Developers also launched a limited demo and KickStarter versions of the game.
