The iconic Metal Slug franchise has taken a bold new step as it ventures into tactical territory in Metal Slug Tactics. Publisher Dotemu (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Streets of Rage 4), together with developer Leikir Studio (Rogue Lords and Synergy), released this highly anticipated title today
The latest launch trailer showcases Metal Slug Tactics’ signature cast, the Peregrine Falcon Squadron, as they undertake daring missions across a variety of landscapes, from deserts to urban war zones. Check it out here:
The trailer also reveals the inclusion of two fan-favorite characters: Nadia Cassel and Trevor Spacey. Nadia, known for her engineering prowess and use of electric mines, adds a powerful presence to the lineup, while Trevor, who previously served as comic relief, now brings his secret ninja and mind-control abilities to the fray.
Metal Slug Tactics takes a spin on the tactical genre, but it continues to pay homage to the beloved Metal Slug series, blending its explosive arcade combat with the strategic depth of a grid-based tactical RPG.
Players can expect over 20 unique mission types across 100 hand-drawn maps, all set against the franchise’s classic, pixel-strewn backdrop. Both new players and veterans will progress through missions that require both strategic positioning and well-timed combos.
The game’s release is further enhanced by the soundtrack of Tee Lopes, celebrated for his work on Sonic Mania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. His music will be available digitally on Steam and as a vinyl release through Kid Katana Records.
The game currently stands at a ‘Mostly Positive’ rating on Steam from 250 users. On Whatoplay, it received a playscore of 7.2 and 7.5 for Xbox Series X|S and PC respectively.
Metal Slug Tactics is now available for €24.99 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass.
