Players and fans of the Mars Attacks universe will finally have the chance to try out Mars Attracts.
Indie game developer Outlier Games announced that they will open the alpha playtest of Mars Attracts this December 4. In turn, offering players and fans alike a taste of the upcoming game.
Mars Attracts is a theme park management simulation game.
For its first playtest, interested participants can sign up now on their official website. The event, developers said, will provide players a glimpse of the game's mechanics. This included creating human enclosures and exploring Martian terrain above and below ground. The playtest will also allow players to experiment on captives. As well as unlock advanced park features.
Mars Attracts blends intricate management gameplay inspired by classics. Like Roller Coaster Tycoon, Theme Hospital, and Zoo Tycoon. But with the dark humor and retro-futuristic aesthetic of the Mars Attacks universe.
Players will manage parks filled with outlandish attractions and quirky Martian environments. At the same time, they need to balance the demands of alien visitors and captive humans.
Development for Mars Attracts was first unveiled in August 2024 at Gamescom. It will be the first video game adaptation of the quirky Mars Attacks franchise that originated as a trading card series by Topps in 1962.
Known for its satirical and macabre depiction of an alien invasion, Mars Attacks achieved cult status. The franchise later expanded into a 1996 film directed by Tim Burton.
The debut trailer for Mars Attracts has already garnered over 1 million views across platforms. This suggests that the game has gained strong anticipation from fans.
Outlier began developing Mars Attracts in 2023, growing its team across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
In the meantime, developers from Outlier Games are encouraging feedback from the playtest. They target to release Mars Attracts via Early Access in 2025.
